Pulse Rifle - Display

What size hazard tape did you use Dave, I have considered that before, but wasnt sure if it would look right with my base design, but for my 2nd hero version PR, I would like to do something like that and lay it on a platform and have tape like that surrounding it...but thats later down the road, of course...but love the look of it....(y)cool:thumbsup

Hey Guy - The only rolls of hazard tape that I found were 2in wind. Rather than deal with cutting and such, I used the full 2in width but measured it out so that I only left 1in exposed from under the center plate of my display.

The lights arrived today! Well...they were here Saturday but I didn't pick them up until today...lol...they are a about 1in wider than I anticipated, so I'm going to have to modify the space to accommodate them but that won't be too difficult once I figure out if I'm going to use one or both of the lights that I ordered.

One nice thing, they also came with a little on/off switch that I think I'm going to mount (hidden) on the bottom back of the display so that I don't have to deal with plugging and unplugging them all the time.

I understand, that is how I have mine, the switch is a push button but I can move my PR base wherever I want without having to plug it in the wall....I prefer it that way...its convenient for me....

Awesome display dude!!!!!!!! So, do you also got some Colonial Marine armour to go with it?

Holy Space Nuts! This turned out fantastic!!!!!!!!!! I really dig the military style theme you got going on. The display and lights are just fantastic, great job!!!!

Thanks! Just wait until I get it fully wired up and lit!

LOL - no, not as of yet...if I were going to invest in anything else, I think I'd go next for the watch and PDT tracking device.

That's cool Dave. Though it seems that there should be a glass case covering it with a label that reads "BREAK GLASS IN CASE OF XENOMORPH ATTACK"

:lol

Thanks! Maybe I'll work that into a grenade display at some point!

So the adapter arrived, the cold cathode lights are on hand now, so tonight I'll be wiring up the lighting.

Pics to come!

A buddy of mine came by yesterday evening to see my display, and was really impressed. He said that the pictures really don't do it justice. I found myself surprised at how surprised he was when he saw it! LOL!!

Once it's lit it'll be ready to rock!

Hey everyone! Like I said in a previous post, the parts arrived:

2 Cold Cathode 8in lights, Rhino Molex AC adapter, on/off switch:

And here's a quick lighting test:

Now I'm on to assembly!

Those are beautiful plaques when they light up......remember what I told you when I first seen mine do it..takes your breath away....DONT IT....LOL....I CAN NEVER GET SICK AT LOOKING AT THE ALIENS LOGO LIT UP......absolutely bada$$..........

Indeed, they do take my breath away too!! What an awesome way to add to a display!!

SO....I think that of all the steps this one was by far the most frustrating and the frustrating part had absolutely nothing to do with the lighting of the display...trying to get a good low light picture with my camera was nearly impossible!! I lost count of how many pictures I tried to take that all came out blurry....grrrr....lol

...so keep in mind that the pictures really don't do it justice.

All that being said it's done! I expanded the cut that I made for the lights to fit into in order to accommodate some extra space that I hadn't anticipated on the lights, then reassembled everything for a test fit, affixed the padding squares on the back of the display to protect the wall, installed the on/off switch on the side, secured all the wires, and lastly, I disassembled the AC/DC converter and drilled additional ventilation holes on both the top and bottom sides of the plastic housing because the one side where there were ventilation holes ended up being pressed flush against the wall behind the display....and the LAST thing that I want to for my PR display to cause a fire!! LOL!!

So without further ado, I present to you, my finished Pulse Rifle Display:

This was a really neat project and I want to thank everyone who's kept me energized about it my commenting and sharing your thoughts! Also, my display wouldn't have turned out nearly as cool with out Guy's help with the ALIENS plaque, screen accurate grenade, and legacy cards! - Thanks Guy!

DONE!! :cool

Wow this turned out even better than I thought it would. (And I thought it was going to be pretty awesome.) Great job!

You know what would be cool? Adding a rotating yellow light on top, like the one on top of the Power Loader, right above the display! :lol

Seriously Dave, that looks super cool and is an awesome display for your PR. great job!!!!
