Why does  "Fruit Brutz" keep popping up in my head?

Fruit Brute was the cereal Lance was eating before Vincent and Mia showed up. It was a part of the Count Chocula, Franken Berry and Boo Berry cereals. Since it's a found item it's very possible to find. But it was discontinued sometime in the late 70's or early 80's so that ups the difficulty factor a little.

Now if somebody had an original that we could grab scans of to wrap a current cereal box, that'd be something. B)

Got it.
Not the cereal, but the picture. I recall reading somewhere that Quentin has a fascination for this cereal from the good old days.

Thanks, for the link jedirick. Im definelty gettin the Kahuna Burger mug for work. :D I stummbled across a pulpfiction site with the Z keychain. They had it for the same price but alot cheaper shipping in the US. Ill start hunting for the site.

Crap... My Whackychimp hosting expired on the pics in pages 1 & 2... Rick - I'll have to rehost the pics on another site. That's at least 3 of my research threads where this is going on - as if I don't have enough on my plate... Grrrrrrrrrrrrr. :angry

This is the first time I've even attempted to draw anything for about 13 years :)
krazykat_1.jpg

In my first attempt, although Krazy Kat looks like he appears in the screen cap, I realised that his face must be distorted by folds in the t-shirt as he looks nothing like he does in the comic.

So I re-drew his face based on one of the cartoon pictures. He smiles and goes dreamy eyed when he gets hit by a brick. Krazy. :)

I never realized Krazy Kat was on that T-shirt. One of the greatest comics of all time.

I gotta find that shirt.

kurtyboy-

King Syndication just emailed the RPFhelp address.

They said they feel your brazen attempts to replicate their licensed comic strip DO NOT violate copyright and DO NOT quit your day job. :lol

Actually pretty darn good from using that T shirt for reference.

Looked through a number of Googled strips.

Not sure of the date of theis strip but it does reflect the evolving style and characteristics similar to those found on our elusive T shirt. Krazy kats done in 20's and early 30's are B&W for most part and much more primitiv. As you move to strips in the 50's and 60's you find chracters much more rounded and modern Mickey M. - like than above are. I'm guessing a year or two either side of 1935 to 1940.

I viewed a lot of strips.

Found out and have resigned myself the fact almost every darn strip contains all of the following:

A tree
A mouse
A cat
A cop
A flying brick

I'll have you know I was once an excellent artist. I scored the highest mark in east central scotland for my end of school practical art exam. But that was a long time ago. :p

Anyway, here's my small collection...

Another good extra for the wallet should be a picture of jule's girlfriend? In the begining of the movie he does say something about his girlfriend(about being vegatarian?)? Can some confirm this? Im off to get a copy to double check.
Has someone made the red apple cigarette pack?

Anyone recognise this $ note?

I found the correct $100:

And here's the latest addition to my collection. I don't have it in hand yet but I can't wait to get it :)

I'd like to proceed with doing the light blue Krazy Kat T-Shirt. I'd like to get a little feedback from you guys on the color though.

The 2 colors that closest match this tee are Port & Company's Aquatic Blue and their Light Blue. Here are some photos of the shirts next to both the indoor and outdoor pics of the screen used tee:

Which do you think is closer??

The Port & Company Aqua tee was the same exact tee used in this flick here:

I know because I was able to obtain one of the real high school tees to get the artwork from. Holding this Aqua tee in my hand though the shirt looks quite a bit more full and blue than these screen caps.

Great your taking on the T shirt.

I guess I'd go for the one on the right. Obviously wardrobe is acquired the T shirt "weathered" or did some brutalizing of their own. Wouldn't surprise me if it was dug out of a pile of dirty laundry at Quentin's house. :D

The design is coming along nicely.

It was impossible to get Ignatz (the mouse) and the copper accurate from the blurry screen caps so I scanned through pages upon pages of Krazy Kat comic strips looking for pictures I could use. I drew the copper by taking the head here, an arm there, a leg here and matching them up to the correct pose.

I even found a picture of Ignatz that was almost exactly the same as the pose on the t-shirt.

Here's a quick mock up. I still need to refine the background a bit.

Anyone that has been looking at Krazy Kat comic strips will know that this is a far more accurate representation of the characters than I originally guesstimated.

I just want to give a special tip of my hat to Markus. He's been putting in a good chunk of time and effort on this artwork and he and I are working together to make this one happen....but he has really stepped up and taken the reigns on this project so I wanted to say a public "thank you" for all the hard work.. :) Thanks man. :thumbsup
