I'm taking a ceramics class this semester and one of our projects is making a tall coil pot so I decided to re-create an ampule from Prometheus and alien covenant! I only have a few classes to make it so it wont be perfectly accurate and I had to tone down the size for time, the smallest ones in the movie were about 17 inches, mine is already shorter than that at 16 inches and will end up much smaller once fired, but it is not a prop I am super passionate about so i cant be too picky! Plus they have a lot of variation in the movie, so maybe mine is just a runt haha

still a work in progress, gotta clean up the top half

im not sure how they finished them for the movie, normally i would paint something like this to match since i know how to do that, but it is required we glaze it. I was looking into metallic glaze and this looks pretty good, but I cant find an image of anything it was used on so i cant tell for sure

Western Metallic Pint #206 Gunmetal Glaze

here is a picture of some of the screen used props:

Also does anyone know where i can find an accurate engineer alphabet? ive seen this image floating around but it doesn't really match the engravings on the ampules:

There are lots of close up pictures of the ampules with writing you can copy from directly.. I did find these notes by searching out the artist's name, Rob Sollis.

Also look into the Raku technique for glazing pottery as was used on the screen used urns. It gives it a metallic but more splotchy organic finish. I took a community college pottery class and we were able to do a few pieces with that technique.

Extreme closeups here.

Thank you! great links, unfortunately I doubt Raku firing is something we would have the means/time to do, but I'll ask! I'll also try to get in contact with either Rob or Andrew and see if they can give me any pointers.
