Prof Stears ship

Re: First time try at building a scale model. Prof Stears project. How?

best advice is to pick one that you enjoy if you do all the prep work shouldnt be to hard. I have been finding that out with the falcon, I never built a studio scale model an let alone never from scratch.

Build what you love and love what you build

If the person is the scale you are looking to use your pod going to be ruffly be 8" in height. I do not know what your theme is but you can reuse the figure or find pilots or what not from other kits at the same scale

Lighting is all basic will have to learn how to use fiber optics to light up all the gizmos if you plan on having them

Right now sketch is to loose to help any further

Awesome and ambitious project, good luck with that !!!

Action figures are IIRC 1/18th scale The Scoop on Action Figure Size Scales

Studio Scale usually is 1/24th scale, with no moving figures visible, but still large enough to e.g. do some CG or composition work if people need to be seen.

Re: First time try at building a scale model. Prof Stears project. How?

Your figure is, as mentioned 1:18 scale, assuming he stands at 6' tall.

Here is a quick template of your Ship roughly based on your sketch at 1:18 scale

Fits on a 11x17 sheet

Seven, that´s the spirit! Good designwork there, very clean drawing!

To the usual SS forum users, since the topic is about a filming miniature, I´d say it does belong in this forum.
A few of you guys are professional modelbuilders IIRC that have been building for movies, or am I mistaken? So any input in terms of technique sure is needed so that blip can successfully complete his project.

Thanks,

EDIT: Alright, upon popular demand this one goes here, since it´s a personal project and not a replica of a studio scale model.

Your ship is really comming along nicely.

Some kitbash parts that could add some detail could be control panels from planes, vents, grills, levers etc. Small little greeblies.

For Plastruct you could add the lamp shades (LF-416) on the sides as directionals..?

I really like this. I think you're off to a great start.

Re: HOW? First time try at a scale model. Professor Stears

For a first build that is looking good. Nice, detailed landing gear and a good overall shape to the design too. Me like.
