Princess Zelda: Ocarina of Time - process documentation and photoshoot

This is without a doubt the best Zelda I have ever seen. I will show this to my daughters freind for Comiccon!

Since joining the RPF I have mostly just been admiring all of the great work. I had to comment on this though. What a great job. I'm convinced that after putting in so much effort, the photos are a must. Incredible photos. They really give you something you can hang onto for years.

My costume photos are a lot like self portraits, and I generally feel like the reason I build the entire costume is for that portrait. Kind of like how actors feel about roles and identities, but I'm not really a stage person. Sometimes I wonder about the artistic integrity of using source material that isn't my own, but the other interesting part is that the viewers/audience already "know" a character and that makes it not only accessible, but interesting. The viewer of this costume could be almost any age, and from any country, and recognize what it is, which is one of the main things I like about "cosplay."

One of my favorite aspects of your work that I have seen is the variety of techniques you use. I try to learn new skills with each build I do, so it's great to see that in action. Really incredible job you've done here! Absolutely stunning.

Even though life and career gets in the way, I feel fortunate that I fell into costuming a bit later than most and already have the means/skills/confidence to try new things without apprehension. I'm not a costuming/prop builder running a business either, so I can mess up and not worry about deadlines. I could never do this stuff as a kid, which is probably why I do it now. Any parents who have children with art-hobbies know that the main thing they get hung up on is attaching parts that will never stick together, or trying to rig something and failing miserably.

That's still the hard part.

Thanks so much everyone!

I'm so glad this costume is getting love, because it didn't really happen over a build thread or anything that would show how painstakingly long it took.

Thanks for looking and letting me know what you thought!

This thread shows how painstakingly long it must have taken you. You took the Zelda from OoT, which has concept art that is not detailed, and actually did this Zelda version (as it should be) justice. A lot of the good looking Zeldas look good because they're based off the highly detailed TP Zelda, but this really is one of the best altogether. Its a real beautiful costume. And I hope it was worth it for you. :)

This is the best one I have seen. I have only seen a few Zelda's done, but you definitely did it right with this one. Great job!

Absolutely beautiful. So many fine, intricate details that many would just gloss over or rush through, and it shows that you took your time and put your heart into it. You are gorgeous and look like you could play her in a movie, and your photographer is top-notch. So many amazing things happening here, it's unreal.
