Re: Paper prop Thread

Funny ID... Now tell us all your secrets :D, what other stuff do you hoard? :angel

Wow. We should have a hard drive research swap meet, where we all exchange DVD's burned of some of our research folders?
I've got 10 gigabytes of folders of collected research and screenshots.

What say everyone? A signup list, each participant sends a disk to each of the other participants?
I love surfing the web, scanning books, capturing stills of stuff I dream of making. I've still got 120 photos of Leon's case from the Professional, like I'll ever get to THAT!

I'm in. Who's with me?
Munson? Arp? (well, I've already traded files with munson before, making us digital blood brothers I guess...)

I'll refine it: we each choose 1 folder, big, small that's really esoteric, with a lot of material in it. Whoever signs up agrees to send a disk with that folder to each other participant. If 20 of us sign up, then we each get 20 disks. RESEARCH BONANZA!!

Re: Paper prop Thread

Digital blood brothers? Sounds nasty! Can I catch any kinds of diseases from that? Should I visit the clinic?? :)

I dug up something from a while back. I was weary to post this when I first made it, as I figured they'd show up all over ebay. They still might, but nowadays, I just dont' care :)

Long time ago, PSOL posted this identification card from Terminator Three:

original_resized.jpg

Natch, I took to copying it, but I wanted to make it for a more recognizeable character, not just some background dude. So after a lot of adobe illustrator work, and some help from some online chums who actually dug up the photo (morphed from a series of screen grabs, mind you), I put this together:

brewster.jpg

I think it turned out great, and I'm feeling good that I nailed all of the fonts, colors, and layout.

You can download a pdf of the entire thing which should print beautifully. I sized it based on personal estimation, but you should be able to resize it yourself, as its all in vector format. Except for the mug shot.

Here ya go!

Please, do me a favor and don't take these to ebay. The idea here is that they're for personal use, RPF kids only. If you want to share with friends, that's cool. But don't sell my work. Thanks!

My two cents, this is a darn good deal. Savage is near obsessive compulsive when it comes to research, and the boy has HOARDS of the most interesting stuff. Even when it's stuff I have no personal interest in, its fascinating to see his dedication to research. Uncanny. Half the stuff, I don't even know what it is: but it's DARN interesting. Some weird paper scroll/strips come to mind.

I'd go in on this, but as mentioned, he's already got my stash :)

Re: Paper prop Thread

I'm in although not sure my meager collection, Trek-centric, will be worthy of the deal! ;)

I'm in, this is a great idea. I've already done a DVD swap with another member, and it was definately worthwhile.:thumbsup

Re: Paper prop Thread

well, not sure if the stuff i have is interreseting, but what the heck, i am in. As a bonus i could include a folder with all the entries i did for the old Munson contests, and in return i really hope he will include his extensive research folder he has on the 'anal intruder' from the movie "Top Secret", which has always been one of his holy grails from what he told me, he even mentioned how he was going to 'weather' his replica :lol :p

Re: Paper prop Thread

Dunno if I have much that hasn't been seen before. I could always put all of the paper props I've made (some which I never posted) and perhaps my Jayne shirt graphics. Recon that'd be enough? :lol

:lol Adam, that was meant as a joke, I didn't considered it for real, but whatever :)

EDIT: I'd love to participate, but I don't have a DVD Burner... :(

EDIT 2: And I don't think I've got enough interesting paper prop stuff... :(, if an idea strucks me, I'll sketch it on paper and make a SVG. Just like now with a self-made Umbrella Corporation vertical pohto ID/Entry card.

I should make a correction: I don't think we need it to be only paper props. At all. Anyone want to manage this project? I sadly, don't have time to wrangle, but here's how I imagine it would work:

We'll have a deadline of a few days from now to sign up. Someone manages the addresses of the signees. Once they're all gathered, in a nice list, everyone on that list mails a disk to everyone else on that list. Hopefully it won't be cripplingly large.

Let's each burn a disk of, like I said, esoteric research. Things one wouldn't normally find gathered here. That can mean anything. Don't worry if it's interesting to others, but it should reflect something YOU'RE interested in. That doesn't mean that if what you've got in your digital library has been on the boards that you shouldn't send it. Just consider that you are expanding the library of your fellow listees. The law of averages dictates that we'd all find something interesting on SOME of the disks...

Who wants to manage the adresses? Anyone? Bueller?
Mine is: Adam Savage 1268 Missouri St. San Francisco, CA 94107.

Re: Paper prop Thread

Most of my stuff is Firefly related and snagged from others here, but I'd be glad to share what I have on the odd chance that somebody gets somethign they'd like to have.

Re: Paper prop Thread

Sounds like a plan Adam. I'm in :)

BTW, you're a braver man than I am posting your address on a public forum :lol

EDIT: I just realized that this could get REALLY expensive if too many people sign up. Maybe the list should be limited to 10-12 people at a time? Postage is a killer and if 50 people signed up, there's no way that I could keep up with that many.

I totally agree. Shall we say 10 to begin with?
BTW, that's not my home address. It's the address of our shop. People find it online all the time.

Re: Paper prop Thread

I'd be very interested. Unfortunately, most of what I like to collect are e-book versions of esoteric texts that may or may not be infringing upon copyrights. Not sure how well that would come across to be sent to everyone.

Re: Paper prop Thread

I'll volunteer to head it up...

PM me with your mailing address and RPF screen name. I'll compile a list for distribution.

Re: Paper prop Thread

So does porn count as "research"? :lol I could probably match Adam's 10 gigs in that department ;)

Seriously, though... I think I'd have to place myself in the camp of the guys claiming "I really don't have much," because it's true, unfortunately.

I'm running 13.2 gigs myself with a few folders not yet organized and placed in the pr0n hierarchy :lol (No, seriously)

Wish I had enough reference to join in, but good luck on this project, I'm surprised something like this hasn't happened sooner!
