Predators - This Bugs Me

I agree with the whole mouth problem. That was the first thing I noticed when I watched the film. I heard that they didn't have enough time to but together the costumes, it might be that they wanted to focus all they're time on the new preds to get them right. And didn't have enough time to get the mouth right on the P1. I don't see how they wouldn't think anyone wouldn't notice.

They should have just spent less time on the super preds or w/e. I'm not a big fan. They really don't bear much resemblance to a predator other than the mandibles and dreds. I like the body suit, new armor, and bios but the head piece is pretty far stretched. It looks more bug like. Sorry for the random hate post but I think that bugs me more than the P1 having flabby cheeks.

That Roce and gaggle of lasers sights on him was actually only filmed for the trailer RR said something about this before the movie came out.

Either way, the new predators were underused. Add another half hour to the film to delve a little deeper, and the film would've been more solid I guess.

I kinda like the new preds, but they need a proper back story and more screen time (and better than Falconer nearly tumbling over)

Man, the more I look at that screengrab, the more pissed off I am on the decision to sculpt the mask with the mouth and mandibles wide open. What a crock of ****...

I agree, I really like the new preds too...but it would have been nice to see the new preds have more of a crown though. I think the screen time was somewhat short for Tracker and Falconer, but that may stem from us seeing two AVP movies where we saw the Predator the entire movie.

Amen to this thread !

they also screwed with the blue and yellow lights on the wristcomp, ridiculous.

and the 3D Holo map took from the atrocious AVP2004.

Besides Mears is a midget and the "classic" pred is almost as tall as Brody....

Winston is a killer

Its the same kinda problem when trying to make a soft body armor/skin over a body cast. If your arms are too far up they will look like crap when trying to put them down and possibly tear the shoulder, or if your arms are too low you cant lift your arms very far without tearing the armpit (not always the case with latex but it will still look like crap at times)

I think they went kinda below the ball on the classic, his face wasnt as tan as it was yellow and it just missed that aspect of "what the hell is this thing?!?!?" then finally seeing his face be like "HOLY CRAP!!!"
They missed that aspect in AVP-R and Predators, they showed the face of a predator too early, and just showed a predator too early in common! In the first one we didnt see the pred until awhile after Blain was killed, and then it was only a half second glimpse. In Predators their just like "hey this is the predators face woopdy do" not "hey.... this is a quick look at the predator, here is is again for a sec, and here and BOOM HIS FACE!!!!" And in AVP-R, though hard to see, you see the wolf about 10 minutes in. Which had they built up the suspense, by the time he takes off his bio you would still know he is a bad ass, but also know that "holy crap this guy doesnt look like any of the others, AND he is missing half his face"

Its all about suspense, (which they tried to have when they were in Noland's place and Stans was bashing the door and the Tracker bashed back, that was about it. It was pretty disappointing from the suspense aspect.

Been waiting for a time to nag about that and now I can, lol (I can also say I could make a 10 page essay about JUST THAT fact)

The one thing that "bugs" about all the Pred films is they keep changing the way the cloak & decloak. But that's just my opinion.

That is because of technology---as they gain the ability to use better CGI FX, they do. Indeed the "cloaked" effect looks different too, because the original was done before CGI FX even existed.

That has always been a "problem" in every long-running sci fi series--witness how many different "beam me up" effects there have been in all the Star Trek tv series and movies.

Usually these differences are "explained" as simple improvements in beaming (or cloaking) technology over time.

I just took a screen shot of the P2 and it seems the same problem came with his skin bending when his mouth was closed just like what Jason was mentioning in post #1

Interesting - that must have been missed because I'm sure they didn't want the cheeks to bend outward like that. You never see that in P1...and this is the only time I've seen it in P2.

You are right Jason in P1 it never happens not once, but in P2?

Actually while watching the whole bathroom scene it happens more then you think buddy we just weren't paying attention to it as much.

I mean here it is fine the skin goes inward as intended and if I may say it looks kick ass with the disc is his hand.

I really should pay more attention to details when I watch a movie. I never notice anything!! xD
now I can never unsee it. & it IS kinda annoying

Yeah you really don't notice it when you watch it maybe once or twice. I will would have to admit I noticed it more in P2 now because Jason had brought it up in PREDATORS, so I was curious and did some research on the subject.

its really more like EVERY movie SINCE predator, i mean the elder, scar, and wolf all had the same wonky problem

I would have to say that your Elder definitely shows the problem, but the Scar photo that you provided didn't show it therefore I have helped you out with that.

Now the Wolf believe it or not does not show that problem @ all through the whole movie when his face is exposed. Here is my conclusion of which movies have it and which ones don't P1 & AVP-R are a big indication that don't have the skin/manidable problem (Which says a lot being since they are the most favorable over all the other PREDATORS in the film franchise) All the other Predators P2, Scar, Elder, and now Classic have the skin problem.
