Predators Sequel

Hey Jehdin did you contact Dark Horse Comics or just send it in? Only asking because unless your a freelance already contracted by DH they will not accept or open any Copyright protected character submissions. It's infringement on Fox so they don't even bother.

You have the wrong person, I didn't write or do anything.

I really hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Fox does not accept unsolicited screenplays. You need to be repped  ( you need a literary agent) and your screenplay has to be registered  with the WGA. They will not read a script attached to a franchise they already own.

As for Stan designing the Predator ..ha ...well somebody else really owns the title of design on what we know as the Predator from P1 and that would be Robert Short. From there its all Steve and Matt... Stan had a great company ..and he was the best at finding great talent ..but credit where credit is due

Alas, that is now true of all the large publishing companies, too.  Twenty years ago, one could send an unsolicited manuscript to a publisher and if it was good, it'd maybe get published.  Not any more. Virtually nobody reads anything that doesn't come through an agent.

But hey, Jehdin---if you send your screenplay to ME, maybe I can turn it into a one-man fan film.  Tee hee hee.  :)

Right now I am storyboarding "Alien vs Predator: The Crusades". Preds, Xeno, and knights in shining armor (or at least shining chainmail). I'll probably shoot it sometime after the holidays.

Also storyboarding "Aliens vs Stormtroopers".

:)

Wait, did I miss something? Or is everyone just assuming Jehdin didn't go through the right channels to get his work lodged?

But yeah, what you said Lflank, I'm sure we could get a few people together and make it ourselves :p that thought actually amuses me a lot more than it probably should...

All good points made above. However, I think there would be some hope for the sequal if Robert Rodriguez sits in the directors seat again, and he has made several mentions of doing a follow-up film. The problem I see is that there needs to be something new. Not the same film with a different name. To be quite honest, what do we have to do, to get a film that actually has more about Pred lore, culture and more Preds?!?! And for the love of everything holy, can it please NOT be on Earth lol?

I think there will be another film on the horizon, especially with Promethius 2 getting the fans ramped up. Usually there is an overlap between the Aliens story and the Predator story and I think the fans of both follow suit. I'm more of a Pred fan but love the Alien franchise as well so I do see something happening. I don't claim to have a crystal ball by any means but I can see another AVP film or a Predators 2 film on the horizon.... maybe by mid-late 2015? A lot of times, we don't hear of these movies till the year of. Maybe I'm just being hopeful...

Like I said, I just hope they do something different like setting it in space (which would require a larger budget) or on the Pred's home planet. Maybe a longer film that can dive into more detail and not just action (similar to what the LOTR an Hobbit movies did). Or even The Walking Dead, which does stray a bit from the comics. I don't know, just thinking outside the box and hoping whoever takes the project on, does the same thing. A larger budget would be needed, a diffferent setting would be needed, and maybe a decent cast with a big name. I would hope its a longer film as well with much more about Pred culture as that's been lacking and the fans have all voiced a strong desire to see it on the big screen. The Predators film did leave an open ending.

Just me .
RR did not direct Predators or any predator film for that matter. Nimrod Antal directed Predators under RR's executive producer and Troublemaker Studios banner. RR did not write the Predators script either ( his script was abandoned ). Alex Litvak and Michael Finch were hired to write the script based off the successful option of their screenplay Medieval. From his own niece ( a friend of mine and a costar in both the Machete sequels ) he has no plan on returning to the franchise anytime soon ..he will be doing the Heavy Metal movie soon.

And while i dont know if he hasnt gone through the proper channels, I do read enough studio scripts and know my way around the system a little bit to know that an NDA would prevent even discussing it on an internet forum .

look,  none of this was meant as a discouragement. Im in this biz day in and day out ..there are sooo many "ideas" flying around ..some are great ones too ..unfortunately there is a money making machine driving the force and many times it can get "political". I have some great friends with amazing scripts that they cant get off the ground ( some of them have directed large studio films) ..it amazes me what DOES get made sometimes ....

rest assured the Predator is a valued franchise piece ..you can bet there will be another sometime

Bill, have you just considered contacting a licensing agent, seeing if you can secure a license from FOX through them, and just publishing your book? I mean, it's great you'd like to have  your idea screen played and all....but a published book is nothing to sneeze at. This is the route I'm taking.

I thought 'Predators' was a worthy sequel overall. I really enjoyed the first half of the film up to and including the very cool first reveal of the predators in their hunter camp. I was genuinely excited by the slow burn as the characters realise what is happening. Looking back at it, I was more excited by the idea of the predators being there, unseen, every step of the way than of actually seeing them. The hound attack scene was one of my favourites, the unearthly whistle, calling the hounds away at the end, just sends shivers down my spine as you suddenly realise that the predators are there all along, watching them but we don't see them, we don't even see through their infra red vision cluing us in to their presence. I was, for an instant, as distracted from the ulterior motives of the predators as the characters were by the hounds and that just sucked me into the movie.

In the next scene, when Royce declares that they follow the hound tracks and "go after" the predators, I was excited by what the second half of the film would have to offer with expectations of an intense battle of attrition between the humans and the predators. Unfortunately, after the explosive payoff and first reveal of the creatures in all their glory, the film just turns into a mildly boring chase movie, similar to the AVP films. All of the new and memorable additions to the canon of the franchise established in the first part of the film (different tracking and hunting methods, hounds etc.) are completely thrown out of the window once we actually meet the predators, who are subsequently shot from static, flat and down right boring angles and who never really do anything particularly interesting (apart from the Hanzo sword fight). The fact that the climax of the film is pretty much a complete rip-off of the first film was probably one of the most disappointing aspects. But I would love to see a follow up, as there is room for expansion here, just as long as they ditch the needless nods to the original.

Agree predators unlike some of the others did work in many ways .

I loved LF hiding out on the downed  ship wearing a predator helmet cloaking himself

that was cool.

That was horrible.PredatorS is an abomination. We need a real sequel to Predator 2.

While they certainly strayed quite a bit from the originals, I still enjoyed the AvP movies and Predators. They'll never top Predator 1&2, but still watchable.

Same here I think AVP did work on some levels. There was some plot stuff I would have totally cut out especially the dynamic duo with the
female lead killed ANY hope the film had of becoming  something special .
