I've personally seen ADI people mention us before... I had Tom email me awhile back saying the preds at comic con were awesome and he loved our group banner.
 
it's all good, we all wish the project success...

hopefully the ideas inspired by the lair make the creatures that much better.

I ment "wack jobs" as passionate fantatical hard core pred fans. we inspire films, toys kits and the ever growing fan base

Probably because of Mander making a Pred costume with dual shoulder cannons years before AVP:R came out. Also, remember when he was pissed a bit when the first AVP movie came out and at the end of the movie an Alien/Predator hybrid chestburster showed up......a couple years after he showed pictures of the one he sculpted here on the Lair?

Yeah I remember Pete's storyboards for SEED having the dual cannon pred. I'm not sure what year that was done though.

Original production shooting started in '04, but got revamped and finally shot the film in '05. So the dual cannon Pred design had to have been '04 at the latest, probably '03 more than likely.

Then that is WAY after the original Dark Horse story.
 
First and foremost, i want to say that i am extremely excited for this movie. ive been working on my suit since this past september getting everything ready for summer.
Secondly, from what i can tell of the pictures, the movie already looks better than either of the AVP crapsterpieces. And while i wont be able to shake most of my skepticism, i am looking forward to it. and just the fact that there are some big actors in it truly gives me some hope.

LETS PRAY ITS A SHOT OF LIFE BACK IN THIS FRANCHISE.
 
Do you all realize how much 2010 is going to kick ass for Predator related ****? We have AVP the game coming out in Feb, and then Predators this summer. The AVP game has 3 Predators in it and the movie Predators has at least 3 confirmed with a possible second clan of Lost Hunters! That's a shitload of Predator designs, Bios, faces, armor, spot patterns, drop ships, weapons and who knows what else!!!

I'm am stoked to see all the new stuff coming our way. 2010 will be Pred-overload, yeah baby!!!!

Don't want to reign on anyone's parade, but we were all pretty excited I think when the AVP-R trailer came out, and now listen to what most of the people on the lair have to say about that. The pics from Predators are even less exemplary...

Now, to quote a small genius, don't call me a pessimist - the world ***** on everyone. Pretending it ain't **** makes you an idiot, not an optimist. ;-)

thats where we should keep our heads guys, up! not just smearing negativity all over the place. i totally understand that our anticipation has not been met with too much reward as far as the later "AVP's" go, but i really have a good feeling that this will not just be another piece o **** sci fi movie with B movie acting, sure some of the actors are not favored by all ( or better put, hardly at all) i personally never thought of brody as a badass, he still might not be, he certainly won't be arnie, but i think he'll surprise us (fingers crossed). and for, topher, i watched that 70's show, the kid can act, don't sound like his role will be all that "funny" like he's used to, but he started to show a hint of another side in spiderman 3 as venom (obviously im not talking about his full venom face) but i definitely think he could pull off the creepy, slightly crazed, serial killer, with proper direction of course.

and as far as predator acting goes, i used to think that the movements were sadly just lost when the great KPH passed, and they had those dorks "trying" to act like predators in AVP, but when several actors can pull it off incredibly well in a 30 min, fan made film (we all know which one:) and in another roughly 8 1/2 min. production (if you don't know what im talking about thats, Batman: dead end) then it is possible! and god i'm hoping! they'd all better do whatever they have to and shoot it a hundred times, if need be, to make it right! instead of the actor doin some ridiculously over done, or just poorly done impression of a pred and you hear the director go " cut! that'll have to work! it's almost lunchtime!" i swear those caricatured versions of pred movements in AVP just tore me apart inside as much as i tried to ignore them, they just lacked the piercing subtlety of the master i guess, but as we've proven, we could go on for days about all the changes we could make in that movie so im done with it :)

anyhow i totally understand for anyone who just refuses to go into this with anything but negativity, we've literally been screwed by the last two films ( some of us a bit more than the rest;) and you are all entitled to your opinions, or " convictions" if you will. i honestly would just be totally stoked if i ended up seeing one of my designs or even a really obvious spinoff of one of my designs in any predator movie, i totally understand some of you feeling used, and that's not cool, credit should totally be given where it is due, at least a wink, especially since they do owe so much to you guys for keeping stans dream alive and evolving but as previously stated, they own the damn thing, i don't think that should mean they can just rip any idea they want off and call it theirs just because it has a predators head on top, that's ********.

anyway URATZ, watch your back man! better put a poor mans copyright on that awesome story of yours! you've gave em all the details and designs for a whole other movie! ( ironically everyone on here would be happy about that but you

Yeah I said it. I havent read the comics much only seeing what members here have done. And they can email all day long and give thanks but, an open and public wink or cheers would be nice.

i wonder if we will see any preds with P2 like designs... P1, scar and wolf were all kinda plain apart from the spots however the P2 hed designs had more patterns / colours, wonder if we will see any in the new movie, the pic we can see of the preds face looks very plain p1ish....

As for all the talk of solen idea's etc.... well il stick to the twin cannon thing, the fact the pred even has one cannon is down to the genius that is Mr Winston, this is how the pred appeared on screen for all to see. Now i would imagine the average child would see this and think wouldn't it be cool if..... more guns, blades everywhere etc etc. My point is it seems like a simple evolution without changing the design and what not, in the same respect coincidences are going to happen alot with the large community pumping out idea's.... two cannons is hardly a radical re-design lets be honest, it was always going to happen and it is indeed cool :p

Lets just be happy we are getting more preddy related goodies :)

Now all that said, i could be wrong, if the designs are incredibly similar to a fan desing then yes, i think you have the right to be annoyed.... or at the very least the right to contact FOX and say all i want is my name in the credits Perhaps Robillicus, you could post comparison pics of the samuri that has you riled as im not certain what this is all over to be honest and as i said i may be wrong above, id like to see, thanks.

Havne't been here for a while but I have to say as much as you guys are complaining and stuff I can't wait to see the Big Bad Ass Pred back in action. Personally im pumped!
