Well, I remain hopeful that they can pull this off, but I'm not going to be walking into that theatre expecting to be blow away. It is of course difficult to judge anything based on the pics we've seen, but I stand by my view that the tusked bio is a rubbish idea. Sorry, it just looks stupid, whether pics are taken with a cell phone or dslr.
I still don't think we've seen Blackie, based on the description in the leaked script. For those who have read it but may not remember
and none of them look like that. I'm actually sort of hoping they manage to keep it quiet, because I really want to be surprised (in a good way) by it. Imagine Star Wars Episode I if we hadn't known about that double lightsaber...what a moment that would have been!

Darth Maul (and, actually, the fact he dies in the first movie instead of being the villain in all three) was hands down the best (maybe the only good) thing about the prequels. He and his double bladed light sabre. I personally didn't know about this, and I was blown away!
Also the fact that the actor is into martial arts, which you can tell by his movements. A Jedi should be able move like that - at least.

Very true. The surprise and unkwon is what makes a good flick. I hope we havent seen everything this flick has to offer. I agree that "Big Blacky" hasnt been revealed .
On a side note...Darth Maul lost cause he was arrogant and a show off. He would have owned the Jedi if he would have just whooped em and got it done and over with.

oh man this is gonna be sick, i wish i had my suit already so i could post up at the local theater the day of release to hang and take pics in the lobby in support of the movie!...gah cant wait for movie XD

I hope Brody isn't going to be in more than one Pred movie. Part of the appeal for me is the fact that the characters change in every Predator film. If they do keep making them, I hope that they keep changing time periods or planets, etc. As far as these guys being "pros", that remains to be seen where the Predator is concerned. How many times have we seen "pros" **** things up? Remember the Godfather films? The first two won Best Picture and the third wasn't up to par with them. All three were made by a long-time "pro". If the response to the critics was true, then maybe it'll be ok, but remember what others have said, it could also just be what we want to hear. Also, if they do make more films, maybe they'll take them seriously and bring them up to par if this one sucks. Maybe they'll treat this one as a hands-on first time experiment and improve on it in every succeeding film. It would be best to have the same team on all three for continuity. The most important thing is whether or not they take it seriously.

At first when I saw that there will be 3rd Predator movie I was like :"Wow! Finally" but my enthusiasm is just going down - I saw partially the leaked script and I PRAY the Black Warrior, Odin, Amon Ra and whatever **** I can think of that the movie is NOT going to be fully based on it, that this is some sort of a trick, made up by fans or something like that. Super Black Predators - WTF MAN!?!? What were they thinking, on what were they - crack or somethin'?? I simply cannot compute how the **** will they put this new class of predators in the whole universe? The idea generally is good - to gather strong specimens from the different species they hunt for the sake of battle.... and then.... a pile of bulls**t! Who the hell did come up with the idea of those weird black predators!?!
Well - sorry for the rant - I just pray that I'll be wrong and the movie will turn up to be actually quite a good one and that I was wrong about it. So far we can only discuss - until the movie comes out, almost nothing can be said for certain.

Rob's absolutely right as everyone knows. Paramount has been stealing **** from fans off the internet for years, so why not Fox? I went through that **** with Star Trek and had to shut down all three of my Star Trek sites so the bastards couldn't steal anything else. If it's copyrighted they own it, no matter who comes up with the idea. And that's that. It gives them free reign to steal anything they want and piss on anyone who doesn't like it. They aren't required to give you so much as a passing mention, let alone credit for your creation. There is no originality left in Hollywood to speak of, and most of the people today who work on this kind of film are just too lazy to actually sit down and think up something original. They call themselves artists, but there are very few true artists left in the movie industry these days. Hollywood is just a big whorehouse but the fans are the ones who constantly get ******. If it wasn't for "reboots" (again, because they can't come up with anything original), Hollywood would be in sad shape. Everyone has their own take or interpretation of everything, and they don't care about the fans, as long as they can put their name on something that already has a fan base.

Amen Rob. Your designs are the most original this franchise has ever and will ever see. If a Samurai pops up in this flick you, me, and everyone here knows where it came from. Just like in AVPR...every single idea that members here had showed up in that movie. Dual cannons, a cannon convert to a handheld weapon, a whip, on and on. Sure its pure coincidence that all that happened. I have never said this before but, I find it strange that the Wolf had two tone armor....almost identicle in color and layout as my ceremonial suit. Can I prove that they came here and snatched our ideas and designs...no. But that article from "an insider" kinda sealed it for me...he adressed every single comment about those pics made here...down to the word. They released those pics knowing we would see them. Knowing we would be brutally honest about what we saw. And they werent happy that we gave an honest opinion and didnt kiss their ass for blessing us with another Predator film. I love the Predator and I am stoked about a new film but, if its **** and they dont do my favorite charater justice... then save me all the excitement and anticipation and go "reboot" your imagination. But like you said Rob...they had the art school and the hook ups but, money cant buy you character or class nor can it be given. Thats why they just take and take and take...they cant create or come up with an original thought if their life depended on it. Thats why all this "reboot" **** is slamming the film world. I hate to say it but aside from the work we all do here...the true Predator franchise, the true design and heart of that character died with Stan Winston. Now character we all love so much is destined to be whored out for the almighty dollar. Prove me wrong RR and Fox. Please prove me wrong.

Is the sole reason most licences get Foxed every now and then. You base your designs of a creature you do not own. They (Fox) could have the courtesy to ring you on the matter, but fact is, it's theirs anyway. They can do with it they want.
You don't have to worry about your designs, they're not used, it's just a rough description of the Predator-look. But really, chill.

The preds look good .. i hope the film is good.
the simple fact is that they have looked on the lair for inspiration...i know this (a little birdie told me )
out of all the 100's of suits, Custom design concepts and thousands of bios and different pieces that have been produced on the forum for over 9 years. It's an honor to have them think that highly of a costume forum to draw inspiration from..just like we drew inspiration from stan and his design
if credit isn't given..i say no big deal,.. we know the score. we set the mark for them and many others to follow.

Is it cool we possibly get to see one of our owns designs on screen? yes its very cool, it would be even cooler if someone from here got credit for it, but it will not happen.
We as a forum care more about the Predator creature than fox. I mean we do it not for financial gain, but for the love of the character. ( well most do )
I think of it like this, and I am going to go out on a limb and say, if it WAS NOT for this forums continuous level of artisitc talent/creativity and desire to make the perfect predator, together with the SDCC predators and such, raising the Predators profile higher than AVP and AVPR put together.
THERE MAY NOT EVEN BE A PREDATORS.
If FOX visit here with any sort of regularity, they will see from month to month there is someone raising the bar.
HOPEFULLY they have met this challenge, and tried to put out a film, that makes us raise OUR game higher, to match the upcoming film.
It Would show a amazing amount of class and recognition, if the lair ,or a member was actually named in some way as inspiration. but again im not holding my breath.

I agree with Andrew...we have used Fox's copyright and taken the liberty of designing, creating and making our own types of Predators. Stan Winston created the beast...all designs have come from him. That makes us copycats who have taken from Stan Winston himself. Althought the design may be significantly different, it's based on a copyrighted design that Stan created. If he were still alive I would ask him what he thinks about us and how we have created our own army of Predators. Would he be pissed and upset? I honestly doubt it. I think he would be proud of us. I think he would encourage us and say well done. The executives at Fox might get their panties in a knot over it but even that is doubtful since no one here has been served with a C&D order from Fox.
I think the fact that they have looked at the Lair for inspiration is something we should be proud of. Did they copy Scotts two tone color scheme for Wolf? Very likely. Could they have taken ideas from Robs Samurai? Of course. I
imitation is flattery at it's best.
Prime example: look at AVP Reqiuem. They wanted to pay homage to the original Predator by recreating some of the iconic moments. Had the human characters and the story not sucked ass we would have realized that these guys wanted to recreate some of the spark that wasthere in ther first movie.
Recognition of the artists here on the Lair would be nice but we all know that's not going to happen because Fox still owns the "Predator" look. We could get into semantics but at the end of the day Fox will do what they want.
It would be really cool if the guys who were responsible for designing the new "Predators" came here asking for input, suggestions, etc but they would be greeted with hostility and anger. They would be mocked for being unable to come up with their own design and having a lack of creativity. There is no way that would happen.
But again look at the circle: we design Preds based on ideas taken from the designs we have seen and then others are inspired by our designs. That's how new ideas are created. It's very rare that someone creates an entirely new look that has never been seen before.
Was the Matrix a new idea? Yes but there are tons of references to other movies and of course the ******-like rebirth. New ideas are out there but nearly every single one has been taken from something that inspired the artist.
Rob, I understand your frustration...beleive me I do. But you need to realize that your Samurai are still your own design that can't be taken from you. Your drawings include so much detail that it's just sick. In fact you put so much time and effort into your drawings that I can physically imagine what the character would look like standing right in front of me. To be able to create a drawing that comes to life on the page is a rare talent. Be proud of your Samurai Rob. If you happen to see elements of your Samurai in Predators then you know you're so good that other people are striving to be as good as you. Don't get angry bout it because we all know that anger leads to hate and hate leads to a bloodbath with skinned bodies hanging from the ceiling!

All so true. I don't own the Predator character, nor it's design. And, yes, I do need to chill.
I know what you guys are saying. Totally. I know my Samurais are NOT the greatest spin on the character out there. They were just some sribblings I did to help me through a rough patch. I appreciate all the kind words from each one of you Pred-monkeys. We're all crazy for the Predator here, no doubt. And yes I do get worked up sometimes, but it's all for a good reason, ya know. That's fine if the artists out in Hollywood want to come here and check out our little niche. I really, truly, and honestly don't care if any one design is lifted from the Lair and used on the big screen. Sometimes I get carried away. Sure. I work for a company I don't like, and I go to school for a subject I'm not too wild about either. Drawing/sculpting/whatever, monsters and such is what I'm really into. It's easy for me to get worked up about it. Im not going to take back what I said, because at that point in time it felt right saying it. So if anyone took offense, or thinks that's just uselessly taking up bandwidth, I'm sorry. (Not really. Hah.)
I agree, Lee. This forum has kept the creature alive and well for almost a decade. The imagination and quality of the stuff seen here grows year after year. Lets face it, AVP and AVP:R weren't the best films. I wasn't taking shots at the new movie, infact I'm excited about it. But it has a lot to make up for. I am a fan of Robert Rodriguez, and I'm more than sure he can do it. Back on topic.
