To make the claim that if i liked Star Trek then i don't care about what happens to the predator is ******* stupid. I'm not a huge trek fan, never have been, and i did like the new one. I watched the movie with a bit of an open mind because i didn't know alot of the old lore. The acting was awesome and the story, i thought, was decent. Which is more than we get nowadays with movies. To say that they **** on ALL true star trek fans is dumb too. Like i said, i know alot of die hard trek fans that loved and hated it. And as much as i hate to say it, it IS a business. Hmmmm, do they cater to (dare i say) the older generation who probably don't go see as many movies who grew up with this or do they try to make a movie that everyone can at least identify with. Business sense would say the later. So don't get all hot and bothered that the hollywood execs didn't suck you off first.
i do care what they do with the predator, but i'm past the point of caring about them doing the movie or not. Nothing i say or do will stop it and there is no point in getting fired up about it. Hollywood will do what they do regardless of what the pred die hards want or have to say about it because, believe it or not, we are in the minority. I love the creature and what they did in AVP to the character bastardized it, me whinning and bitching about it won't change what they did or what they will do because people will still go see it and buy it on DVD and Blu Ray so they make money. And i'll reserve judgements on all movies till i see a little more hard facts about the movie (i.e. script, cast, previews etc.) Throwing it out now just because its a post 1992 predator movie is a little rediculous in my book.. Hollywood might screw up and give us gold. Who the **** knows.
And the angry face wasn't for content it was for you chosing to be a ******* child and call a general group of people who don't share your taste "airheads" and idiots. So maybe next time when someone doesn't share your taste or whatever, be a little more grown up about it.

I completely understand where your coming from. I really do, but what you say or i say is never going to change what hollywood does. If it sounds defeatist to you, whatever dude. I call it reality, and its here to stay. And i'm not terminally defensive, i'm one of the most calm and passive guys on the board, but it does get a little old and pisses me off when people start attacking others for not sharing their same point of view about things. maybe you caught me on a bad day, i dunno. But you came off as being a doucher calling people who liked the movie airheads. And don't call me a non fan of something knowing nothing about me dude. Huge pred fan here and yes it does break me when you look at what their doing to it, but again, i'm not going to pass judgement on anything till i see something a little more concrete.
Stuff changes, things evolve, and **** happens. You can always hold on to the trek you loved and the preds we love, nobody and nothing can ever take that away from you and thats how i feel about predator. No matter how bad they **** something up, i can take comfort in knowing that they can't change the past and **** up the original and we'll always have that. But to stay the same and not evolve and advance means to die. surely you can agree to this.
Agree to disagree but lets not insult people for not sharing opinions and i'll try to be less offensive, lol.

"If the people making the Pred film are smart, they will be watching these boards to see what the fans would really like to see. "
if the people making the film watch these boards, they'll mostly be reading posts calling them scum and ar$eholes and calling their film utter sht before it's even been penned, so i don't think that would be any incentive to do anything to please "us".
Bensin, that pants poop post ---- I'm cryin' here, I'm laughing so hard!Too ******* funny.

They've done EVERYTHING!
After watching that, I'd LOVE to see what they can do with predator.
And again, Half Knife. No offense, I'm just being honest. If the people at fox sifted through this forum for ideas, then you just singed this movie's death warrent. as soon as they read this thread, they will say "**** all of you. These ******** are who we're trying to please? You think they'd learn their lesson from AVPR. We are not to be ****** with. Because of one fluke we're getting death threats. When we retaliated with AVPR by ******* with the bros at every turn of production and giving them a tiny ass budget, they just didn't ******* learn. That's it. Rodriguez and Nimrod OUT! Neither of you are to speak of this project anymore, you're both FIRED! I wonder if Micheal Bay's busy..." I'm not saying that's really why AVPR sucked, I just had no other way to express this thought.
Do you know what REALLY pisses me off??? Being devoted to something from childhood, and trying not to be a geek about it, and watching it evolve and add to the legend, and then see the slow, fatal slide over the edge of the abyss into 90210 super ********. That's what they did to Star Trek. It started with The Next Generation, very slowly, and then Deep Space Nine slowed the slide pretty well for a while until it ended. Then Voyager slowly continued the slide (though I liked most of them), and Enterprise tried to change everything all at once and paid the ultimate price. Everything was quiet and then BAM! Suddenly this ******* kisses Nimoy's ass and bonds with him through other work projects, takes everything that was established and ****** it as hard as possible and people loved it. That's what pisses me off most. That movie WAS NOT STAR TREK. It was a hollow copy that was made specifically for the 90210 crowd under the quise of Star Trek. Only the name is the same. Star Trek had class no matter what you thought of the actors because it was made when America still had class to spare.
The new movie is a direct reflection of our society today. Kirk is an arrogant, simple minded pussyhound, that looks like he had a bad botox experience with those ********** lips, Spock is totally the most ****** up in the film, and J.J. Abrams used the same ******** excuses that has become a Paramount staple...alternate reality, artistic license and time travel. The story was so stupid it was laughable. A Romulan supership made from a mining ship. Spock kicks Kirk off the Enterprise, and he just happens to land on the very same planet where the old Spock is hiding in a cave, and only a few hundred yards away? Add to this, Montgomery Scott just happens to be on the same planet? Come on. And all the characters (except Bones) are roughly the same age? They destroyed Vulcan. Only a serious lifelong fan could possibly understand what that meams to another of his own kind. They ****** with everything they could **** with and people loved it. People who aren't serious fans and didn't know all the history loved it that is. The only possible saving grace that film could have is if it makes new fans and then once they're hooked, they change everything back to the way it should be. It's entirely possible, but I doubt that they will even try. The characters remind me of the teen-agers I work with (babysit is more accurate) and that was the target audience. Why did they have to use Star Trek? Because Hollywood wouldn't know a ******* original idea if it raised up and bit the whole town in the ass. So what do they do? **** with things that real writers and actors and directors created before them and pin the name of something solid on it (Star Trek, Predator, anything as long as it's already been established) so they can laugh all the way to the bank.
Point of view and opinion has nothing to do with it. Simple fact is all it is. Originality is dead in Hollywood. If the people making the Pred film are smart, they will be watching these boards to see what the fans would really like to see. What are the odds that they are? These people don't care that, like it or not, film is one of the most, if not THE most important medium we have. All they care about is money. Make it, **** it up, milk it. That's the extent of their thinking in most cases. CGI and wannabe actors. That's the content of most Hollywood films today. I shudder to think what they will do to the Thor movie. Yeah, I'm a lifelong fan of his character too. Had every single comic up until 1995 (divorce). Now, I hope that Marvel Studios will take extra care to make sure that their icons don't get ****** up by the big studios. I'm one of the easiest people in the world to get along with, but NEVER, EVER try to argue Star Trek with me. It represents much more to me than a t.v. show. Memories of watching it with my mother (she thought Shatner was handsome). Sneaking out of bed to watch re-runs late at night after my parents had gone to bed and sitting so close to the t.v. that I should be blind now (I couldn't turn the volume up or I'd get caught). Sending off for autographed pictures of my favorite characters and all that other Trekkie stuff. That's what Star Trek meant to me. That Star Trek is dead. And it's a damned shame they couldn't let it die in peace. Only someone like me could ever understand why I feel the way I do. The word FAN is short for FANATIC after all, and if that's what I am, then so be it.
I don't visit Star Trek sites. This is the only fan site I visit. If that makes me a Predator fanatic, then that's all right too. I'm not ashamed to be a lifelong Trekkie, Star Wars, Conan the Barbarian or Thor fan. I'm not ashamed to be a hard-core Predator fan and nobody else should be either. Science Fiction in general and Star Trek in particular are what prompted me to get a B/A with a minor in photography. Wanting to be like Spock is what made me read everything I could get my hands on from the time I could read, (especially fantasy and Sci-fi), a habit that has lasted up to the present day. If all this makes me seem like a certifiable lunatic Trekkie nutcase because of my love for something for so long, then I'm ok with that too. That's what Star Trek meant to me. Sorry this vent is so long, but I could easily make it ten times longer. As a matter-of-fact, I thought that killing Qui-Gon Jin and the choice of Hayden Christiansen as Anakin Skywalker were the worst possible choices Lucas could've ever made in the prequels if anyone wants to open that can of worms!
