PREDATORS - MOVIE INFO

No one can squeeze the bucks like RR.

I'm sure fox could give him a fiver and he'd make the whole movie in his back yard with some green screen and the thing would turn out FANTASTIC.

Was it ever stupid, since when can an organic toung even with steel teeth smash through an advanced predator steel helmet and a skull for the kill....lol The director would have been better off using a bunch of aliens to gang up on him or something; I know, lame but at least more plausable?!

Absolutely! Celtic's death was probably the dumbest one I've ever seen. He kicks the **** out of the alien and then dies so stupidly. Garbage. Hopefully someone will put some thought into these films some day. Some day....

Interesting....I figured they had to be on something....So the pred alien eggs must have had the same hormones as well. Did he explain how one of the skinny Aliens (Grid Alien) in AVP had a tail twice the size of the other Aliens, that was able to kill and lift a dead predator?

when they titled them "aliens v Predator", they seemed to do their level best to give us exactly that : multiple aliens, singular Predator :-( it was nice to see multi Preds, but when they're killed that easily - even assuming they were teh inexperienced younger ones - it kinda cheapens them.

as for the fast gestation, there was comment by Anderson at the time that removed scenes explained that the aliens were indeed drug induced to speed up growth.

ah, managed to find it here http://www.movieweb.com/news/NECpIJEFvPEPGL :

"I asked, "Does that include the acceleration of the alien life cycle or was that just conveniant."

Whoops, I had hit a nerve. He shook his head. "No, no, the machine that the Predators built to house the Queen pumps her full of hormones that accelerate the birth of the creatures. If we'd seen the REAL film, we'd know that.""

so there y'go.

Alright... I've held off long enough trying to gather my thoughts on this subject, and after lots of deliberation, this is what I've come up with... I don't care. I don't care anymore. I really don't. I am so ******* turned off of Fox's interpretation of the Predator creature I don't care. It doesn't matter who writes the movie or what... it's going to be **** regardless.

AVP was a joke. The Predator went from being a cold and calculating killer to an obese, highschool football player retard with only a helmet to differentiate each character. Oh wait, I'm sorry, one of them had skulls on spikes that he wore on his back. And the worst part of it all is, that they didn't use what was already there - IE the COMICS. If they had followed the original script (yes, there was one, and I HAVE IT), it would've been pretty cool. The script pretty much borrows everything from the comic book series. You had Machiko and Broken Tusk... two great characters. You're probably asking yourself about the credibility of the script that I got... well, I bought it the same time I bought the Alien:Resurrection script. Guess what... the Alien: Ressurection script was pretty much dead on.

Anyhow, AVP sucked for soo many reasons. One - the fans anticipated the return of the Predator. They got his idiot second cousin who "didn't know better." The Aliens were redesigned to spite H.R. Giger. I don't know if that was the original intention, but that's what it did. I like how they say that they wanted to stay true to Gigers design, but there's not one goddamn thing similar about either creature.
Fox yet again takes a dump on poor Giger. ******* ********.

The Predator was "re-designed," and his head was actually scaled down, and he was to be portrayed without the extra shine.. no slime whatsoever. His chin was elongated as were his dredlocks to give him a more "romantic" feel. His body was bulked up to give the impression of his super human strength. Really, by this time I'm wondering how anyone that worked on the first two Predator movies could've continued with this ****. They brag about that alot in the first AVP making of book. Basically everything was dumbed down to make the Predator seem more heroic. Which he wasn't. He was a tool in a very bad movie directed by someone who had NO business directing.

"Well I suggest you try and do better!" Really? You get Fox behind me, and I will show them **** they never thought possible. But they have to pay, and well, that' s not their thing. Cheap... cheap... cheap.. cheap.

AVP:R was a joke, and a direct shot at us.. the fans. The "Wolf" Predator wasn't all that. I thought he was cool, but not what you all make him out to be. He was thrown into a movie with a cheap-ass "slasher" plot with an even cheaper cast. The movie was crap and that is that. THE MOVIE WAS ******* ****. It was bollocks and you all know it! "Well, the Wolf looked cool and he had this and this.." Oh come on. The design was lame. Oh come on... with all of the pictures out there now, you think this way? For ***** sake.. in some shots his left eye is defunct, in other's theres a ******* PUPIL. Not to mention they made the whole head animatronic thus removing one of the things that I love about the Predator.. his eyes. Or the fact that they were the stunt performers eyes which added to the believeability.

Alright, enough ********. Most of the guys working out there in the big fancy industry were inspired by the old monsters - Creature from the Black Lagoon, Dracula, Wolfman, The Mummy, whatever. I am not of the same generation, and those movies are cool to watch, but they don't do much for me. However the Predator and Alien ARE my Gillman and Wolfman. They changed the **** out of them to make movies. How would you like it if the characters you grew up with and inspired you to become what you are now, belittled to douchebag staples of corporate greed? It's ******* stupid, and goddamnit I am pissed off. You want to make another Predator movie? Fine, I don't care.. the first two tries sucked huge cock... so why not? You get the Thomas Brothers back into it. It's been a long ass time since they did Predator 2.. come on, the have to have something!! Anything is better than what Hollywood is ******** out.

Rob you know i feel pretty much the same way on all things AVP & AVP-R, so i will not just repeat what you have said.

But heres a few other points.

Most of us here still HOPE that Fox will wake up ( hopefully before they totally kill off the Predator and Alien ) and realise they MUST give these 2 iconic creatures their own individual films back, and do it well enough to place them back at the top of the MONSTER food chain. WHERE THEY BELONG !

Wolf was seen as a massive step up from Scar and his inbred brothers, probably BECAUSE scar and dumb **** AVP preds WERE so so so bad. its only when you look close you realise how many corners were again cut.

It was 1990 when Predator 2 came out, 19 ******* years ago ! along time to wait and be ****** over by AVP.

i ask you to look at this.

1990 Predator 2, the lost hunters, they were on screen for literally ******* seconds, yet Stan Winston and crew put more effort into those predators, than AVP and AVP-r, LEAD predators put together x100. If you skimp on your main character , what hope is there for the rest of the film?

HERE HERE.....FOX YA SHOWER OF SHITES. GET YOURSELFS SORTED.

Every time Rob posts how he feels about AVP and AVPR, theres a grin on my face from ear to ear. Everything Rob says is honest with no holds barred. I agree with everything, but I feel that Ian Whyte (the actor that played Wolf) went out of his way to become the Predator. He had the movements down and really tried hard to replicate what Kevin Peter Hall (the guy who played the 1st and second Predator) did when he was in that suit.

Overall - yes AVPR was just one big **** that Fox pooped out and expected the public to gobble up. I'm not one for eating ****, but the one thing I enjoyed watching in AVPR was Ian Whyte as the Predator.

Everytime I see a fan film (SEED, Batman Dead End) or see the actual Predator on the big screen, I am looking for the same character that we saw in the first and second movie. I'm super critical if the guy in the suit just walks around and neglects to move the way the Predator should! Kevin Peter Hall set the precedent for the Predator...all the movements, gestures, and slight nuances of the Predator that we have all come to love are all thanks to KPH.

So thats why I still like Wolf. There were too many tributes to the first Predator, but overall seeing Wolf was fulfilling for me...as for the rest of the movie...well thank goodness for fast forward...

Derek Mears baaah, the dude is barely any taller than me.

And as Jason says, Ian Whyte has got the pred down now, moved awesome in AVP-r and was one of the few good things.

When Robillicus answers, he does with a vengeance. :)

I concur with what Rob and Usurper have said. Pretty much sums my feelings up about the two AVP movies.
And with the two AVP movies in mind, you cant really sink any lower with the new Predator-movie... can you?
Oh well, guess we will have to wait a year. I will watch it at the cinema, THEN I will rant about it being bad... or hopefully good. You never know, people can surprise you.

Kotten

Actually, you can. If anything FxO has accomplished one thing with the last 2 installments... it IS possible to lower the bar on quality. So instead of trying to build upon and outdo the last film, they just aim low, and I'm sure there are muttered "eh, **** it's" among the movie people.

What troubles me is that with the new PredatorS movie coming out, why hasn't anyone posted a tidbit of info about Ian Whyte? I haven't seen anything online about anyone trying to interview him. The only redeeming factor from AvPuke:Regurgitation, was that Ian is a phenomenal suit/creature performer. Leaving him out of the new movie would be a bad, very bad idea. He's got the height, physical ability, and experience needed to perform and wear the suit. I don't know who Derek Mears is, but Lee does, and apparently he's alot shorter than Mr. Whyte. So what gives?

I agree with everyone on the portrayal of Wolf in AVP:R. He was more fluid than the AVP stooges and was moving more like the predator from P1. But, I am sure that white will be in the new pred movie being that it is supposivly more than just one predator. I think Mears might actually pull off a good performance if he studies the past movies and what has and hasn't worked for the fans.
For his part in the latest Jason movie, he actually studied child development[or lack of integrating into society] to get in tune with the character he was playing for the movie. If he follows his own footsteps and researches the predator, the past movies, and the fan base, then he might come close to what KPH did in the first two movies.
Just a thought.

Mears was Jason in Friday the 13th 2009 shitfest , hes only about 6'5 which in my opinion is too short, gota be over 7ft to begin with , Ian is 7'2 i think.

Cutting corners has got to a new level now, they are even cutting down on costume material by using a shorter actor :)

Hey all, just getting my feet wet here... so be easy on the bashing (not really). AVP-R was just bad. I can't say anything else about it. A Predator who can only win a fight if he has his tech to lean on? ERRRRRRRRRR!!!! Wrong. A predator who comes all the way from the home world even though there is a clan ship in orbit? ERRRRRRRRRR!!!! Wrong again. Why must they hurt me like this? I almost paid money to see this movie.

AVP, not so bad... take that term lightly. Whenever you have young inexperienced fighters they can get in the **** real quick. That's just life. Sometimes they just jump the gun on things or don't move along quick enough to keep pressure on the enemy.

Pro-
The pred that died first was a case of being over confident. This was fine for me. Makes sense really.
The pred that lived longest. Put up a hard fight, non stop and keep going towards the enemy. He also knew when to run. What cost him again was being over confident at the end when he thought he had defeated the Queen. Again, makes sense.
The Queen being a fraking tank! It was fun to see what troubles a queen is without a power suit.
The pred (celtic i think) who got his head punched through. He got into loving his beat down on the alien. That was cool. Having a little to much fun and not finishing the job.

Con-
The pred who died first not fighting back.
The second pred. The alien shouldn't have been able to move. He should have had no trouble finishing him. Even if the alien picked up the fight, why didn't he fight back. How did the alien's soft mouth go through his armored helmet. That was stupid.
The easily detacted plasma caster the last predator had. Take a tap and lose your gun. NO, you hold onto your weapons like they are your babies!
Having their plasma casters in the temple and not on them. STUPID!

Thoughts?

Wolf did well enough without using his tech. He ripped Chet's inner mouth right out of his head, and remember, he was already pretty beat up before the final fight scene. He held an alien fast in each hand in the sewer and was preparing to blast them both until he got tail whipped into the wall. Wolf fought with his fists as much as with his weapons, especially against Chet. And the mothership was already gone by the time the distress signal went out. They were already rounding Saturn when the smaller ship detatched. They were probably in hyperspace or whatever and could never have gotten turned around in time. I do agree that Celtic's death was stupid in the extreme. The bottom line is this...Fox doesn't give a ****. Period. They get whoever will work on a project and don't care how they twist what has already been established. The fans are of absolutely no concern to them at all. How many times have we seen a "FAN" make a movie and turn it into a bloated shitfest? They use beaten-to-death phrases like "alternate reality", "artistic license", or "his own take" on something because the fans are utterly unimportant to them. Real fans don't have the money or opportunity to make films. It's as simple as that. They have real fans by the balls, and they love it. It's like these people make these movies and never try to explain anything unless the fans ask questions, or worse, postulate explanations. Then the director says, "yeah, that's what happened". End of story. Just like the predalien. The queen would never have speared Scar if there was a chestburster in him. Anderson's oh so lame excuse was "well, she speared him more in the groin area", and only after fans questioned it. ********. What the franchise really needs is a mega-rich TRUE fan that will manipulate Fox into letting him make a Predator movie. Until that happens, we just have to wait and hope. And hope, and hope.........

I figured being she's a queen, killing off just one of her babies is a small price to pay in order to stop the guy who's killed dozens. Plus from before the aliens had to be up close to tell. The Queen tail speared him from about 5m.

That was the other thing that bothered me, the Queen Alien spearing Scar. Aliens don't have eyes and see by pharamones (AVP PC game) the queen should have been able to smell the alien in him at a distance. She alo brought scar right up to her face then flung him 50 feet away, further injuring him and risking the pred alien? I don't think it would have happened, she would be sacrificing a predalien to guard a new hive thus allowing her gestation time. But imagine if the script writer actually followed cannon and had an imagination!? The Pred fans (us) will most likely be let down in every future movie, just like the horrible Star Wars prequils.

That is very true. With all of her brood now dead, she would need that predalien more than ever to help start a new hive. But, the whole battle scene was what they thought made the film. 'screw the fans and the storyline cannon, bring on thr benjamins!' is probably how they felt after making a painful hour of stinky crap film.

well actually, come to think of it. the drone spared ripley in A3 because she had a queen in her. Perhaps the possibilty that scar could take her out was a greater consideration to her than one more drone?

just a thought.
