PREDATORS - MOVIE INFO

Well i hope they do a good job with it, the story idea sounds good, and i've allways liked KNB'S stuff, see what happens

I wonder if they have looked back at the earlier Winston pred designs, and used them for reference and/or inspiration.

hi lee, whats the name of the book this is from?and are there still available?i'd love to read one.

It's the Winston Effect: the art and history of Stan Winston Studios. Still available, I ordered mine in July from my local bookshop and it arrived 5days later

Found a photo of the Predator dog. I think the females carry it in there Pred-purse just like Parris Hilton does, lol. :D

I'm wondering how long until we hear some more cast names. Rodriguez often recruits old collaborators like Cheech Marin, we know Danny Trejo's involved. I wouldn't be surprised to see someone like Naveen Andrews (Planet Terror) or even Alexa Vega (Spy Kids). For a big guy, Kevin Durand (Wolverine) would make a mean hunt. He's massive and playing Little John in the new Robin Hood.
And Michael Biehn was also in Planet Terror, he'd be interesting as an older survivor on the Predator planet and confuse us again like Bill Paxton did (Aliens/Predator 2).
Thought it might be fun to throw some names out there and see if any of us are right.

nice idea, and good thinking about RR and past cast members.

hmmmm.

I am wondering if the alleged Arnie cameo, will be the Soldier in a cave who has been there for years , maybe towards the end of the film.

trying NOT to say who id like, but who i think, and im drawing a blank at present hehe.

Maybe

Adewale Akinnouye-Agbaje ( Mr echo from lost ) as the African guy.

Steve Buscemi although not physically imposing can be un-nerving.

im still hoping for a GOOD big hollywood name to be the lead role of THE COP ROYCE, but im wondering if the rumour of Michael Jai White, on IMDB is heading for that character.

At one hand I really want to see what kind of predators they actually have, on the other hand I don't want to get spoiled...

Steve Buscemi was another I thought of too, but even his serious roles have quite a bit of humourous undertones to them, guess it depends on the character. Thinking of Rodriguez projects they all have a fun movie presence to them, while AVPR was pretty dead on human atmosphere I'm expecting a true lively ride. At least he's got the experience and contacts to pull in the right people for the job, while the Strauss bros have disappeared back into the mainframe.

Predator_flemnew In a surprise development, Adrien Brody has been set by 20th Century Fox to play the heroic mercenary who battles alien hunters in “Predators,” a reboot of the “Predator” franchise that is being creatively spearheaded by Robert Rodriguez.

Brody will star with Alice Braga, Danny Trejo, Walt Goggins, Oleg Taktarov, Mahershalalhashbaz Ali, and Louiz Ozawa.

Brody_fleming Nimrod Antal is directing a film that is about to get underway on location in Hawaii and at Rodriguez’s Troublemaker Studios in Austin, Texas.

Fox has set the film for release July 9, 2010.

Best known for his Oscar-winning turn in the Roman Polanski-directed “The Pianist,” Brody has an opportunity to reinvent himself as a flat out action hero, playing a character close to the one that Arnold Schwarzenegger portrayed in the 1987 original.

Brody and his Paradigm reps lobbied hard for the role. Fox has high hopes to spring a new franchise, and Brody has signed options to return for future installments, sources said.

Seems Brody is a Pred-head himself :D

Adrien Brody? Seriously? Cant say im impressed :D Good news that info seems to be coming more frequent tho

oh nother update =)
from comingsoon.net

"We told you it was coming and sure enough, Variety has announced the entire cast for Robert Rodriguez's Predators, which will be headlined by Oscar-winning actor Adrien Brody (King Kong, The Pianist) as the mercenary Royce.

At the same time, The Hollywood Reporter's "Heat Vision Blog" is reporting that actor Topher Grace (Spider-Man 3, "That '70s Show") is in negotiations to join Brody as Edwin, an accountant who is in fact a dangerous serial killer.

The rest of the multinational cast includes the aforementioned Danny Trejo and Walton Goggins from "The Shield" as well as Alice Braga (I Am Legend), Oleg Taktarov, Mahershalalhashbaz Ali ("The 4400"), and Louiz Ozawa. The Variety story doesn't reveal which character all of them might be playing but you can get some idea by checking out Latino Review's preview.

Directed by Nimrod Antal, the Hungarian filmmaker behind last year's Vacancy and the upcoming Screen Gems crime thriller Armored, the movie is about to start shooting on location in Hawaii and Rodriguez's Austin-based Troublemaker Studios.

UPDATE: The Hollywood Reporter has posted more details on which characters they will play:

Written by Rodriguez, Alex Litvak and Michael Finch, the script follows a group of elite warrior-types who are being hunted by members of a race of merciless alien trackers called Predators.

Brody is a man who ends up inheriting the mantle of leader and is known as a hunter of men. Grace would play an accountant-type whose unassuming facade masks a dangerous serial killer.

Braga is the tough female killer. Ali is a man not afraid to die, Goggins is the loose canon of the group and Taktarov is a former Russian special ops agent.

Trejo, already cast, is Cuchillo, a hardened warrior with twin uzis strapped to his back"

Nice find Skullsplitter :D

Well weve at least got some GOOD ACTORS this time, which im real happy about, And even a Oscar winner in the lead role Im going to guess that because Mr Brody is NOT a HUGE person physicallly, they may go for a more gritty type of film. ( which is very cool if so, in my opinion of course )

We were no where near right with our guesses hehe.

BUT

The Guy they find in a cave has not been announced, so i maybe correct with my Arnie theory

As for Mears he is 6'5 and a bulky sort of guy, i didnt like this idea when it was 1st rumoured a while ago, as hes the wrong body shape and nearly 1ft smaller than the previous actors.
But i hope to be pleasantly surprised, i think out of the cast the Mears link is the most dissapointing, but only due to the fact that we are used to a certain height and build.

Alright I am pumped Danny Trejo is the man!!!! but I am still pissed Ian Whyte isn't in it I mean wtf they gonna get a bunch of damn wrestlers?!??!?!

Adrien Brody...not sure how I feel about that. I liked him in Cadillac Records....didnt get the strong killer type vibe from him. Lol. Good screen presence though. We will see I guess.

Adrian Brody huh? Thats means that they are going for the geeky timid look. Maybe he will turn into a vengeful killer by the end of the movie after hes had to deal with evading the Predators and seeing all the people around him get picked off one by one. I can already picture in my head where this movie is going and how its going to look based on what I know. Really looking forward to seeing some sneak peaks once filming starts. I'm sure there are some concept art pics out there...too bad we can't see them lol!

Loks like I may my guesses one day too early, at least Brody brings a noteable talent and I quite like Topher Grace (he was pretty good as a likeable/hateable character in In Good Company and Spiderman 3).

Yeah Mr Brody doesnt sort of stand out as a action star really.

BUT

The Royce character is meant to be a cop i think? who gets kidnapped after a pred watches him chase down and kill someone, so he has to be pretty hard nosed and some level of a killer worth hunting i guess.
Maybe brody will bring a different dimension to the predator films, i mean a average man forced into a situation where he has to improvise.

heres hoping we get some sneak peaks like Jason said :D
