PREDATORS - MOVIE INFO

One of Mr. Winston's greatest of his many greatest acts: saving us from the horror that was goat-legged predator bug dog... thing. Hard to imagine what the world of movie monsters would be like if we had that instead of the one we know and love. Let alone where we would all be right now! Maybe PREDATORS can do what AVP-R did with the Space Jockey: have the pred-dog-bug as a trophy on the wall! It would be fitting considering everyone's opinion comparing the two designs. More on topic, I'm approaching this with the guarded optimism, though I'm worried this sounds like it's starting to get a bit... weird.

well i don't like the idea of creatures at all. the whole premise of Preds is they choose prey to test THEMSELVES against. the idea of them hunting prey down w/ dogs is just....stupid. it's like a fox hunter claiming to be a great warrior because his pack of hounds took out a fox.

HOLY FREAKIN CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am sooooooooooo STOKED for this one!!! As long as FOX stay the hell out of it & lets Rodriguez do his thing. & from the sound of the script The FOX guys will NOT be sorry if they do!!!
I own I think EVERY predator novel written & the Script for this new movie sounds ALOT like my favorite of them all (Predator: Forever Midnight), with a few subtle changes. in the book there IS a game preserve type planet which is NOT the Pred homeworld, it is very Primordial & thick with jungles but it is also NEVER dark. The predators have not only brought Humans to this planet but a miriad of other alien beings & the humans have to deal with them as well as the local wild life.
I am seriously buzzing about this movie & I think I speak for everyone on the Lair that they need to HURRY THE HELL UP with this one!!!

Im not sure what the original quote was, i missed something but was it said that the preds would utilise creatures? or just that there will be creatures? if it's the former then monkey balls!! the later however makes sense, a pred jungle planet would no doubt have a great diversity of creatures that could make for great viewing and could make or break the atmosphere of the film depending how they are handled...... remember back to P1 where the hog attacked Mac.
Sorry, not for me, id rather they took as much time as needed and get everything perfect

It's always the same waiting on the new films, almost easier to know and see nothing about it than occasional news info which only makes you want more. Seems like all the sites are hot on it though so many are really eager without too much negativity. Considering his handling of the Dusk til Dawn, Mariachi and Spy Kids series I'm confident Rodriguez is going to steer this well.

It's starting to sound a little on the ****** side, but we still don't have enough information. I don't like the fact that they're fast-tracking it. That's usually not a good sign. I just saw G. I. Joe, and if there's a shitload of crappy CGI like that in Predators, it will be pretty painful to watch.

sadly, it sounds like the same old thing when someone jumps on a franchise despite claiming to be an uber fan or whatever. the originals are never enough, they have to make THEIR version bigger/badder/"better". i mean, "giant super predator" ~ cos the originals just weren't impressive enough, right?

I think people try to "one up" the originals because if they didnt and they just made a film just like the original people would complain there too. It would be the complaint of "oh we saw that in the first one or two films". I know there would be some that would like it but some wouldnt. I guess just a case of cant please everyone.
I am excited about watching this movie. The thing that scares me right now is the eight people... I personally think that they will go overboard with stereotypes.
The predator dogs will not bother me as long as they are not a dog with mandibles... There is no reason for a hybrid. I dont think its hurts the predators "ego" so to speak at all. I mean the dogs are a tool just like the cloaking device. I mean really and truthfully testing ones honor and skill is all great if the other guy knows your there but if you are sniping people not so much. So the dogs in my mind are just another accessory.

I agree that there are too many humans involved. And the dog and falcon thing...just have to see it I guess. And as for the guy living in a cave and escaping the Preds, it would never happen unless they wanted him to survive for some reason. In the back of my mind, I'm starting to get images of those stupid Jungle Tales or Big Game scenarios. Hopefully as we get more information, things will level out and get better. I also hope that this isn't another case of a "fan" trashing something just to make his own version. Hopefully, since they want to "reboot" the franchise, they will at least make a decent movie to do it with. Obviously, that's why they want Arnold involved, I just hope it isn't in a big way and it makes sense, especially since I've seen where Dutch was supposed to have died from radiation sickness after the first film. Maybe he won't even be Dutch. That would be better. Still can't wait to see "leaked" images.

Hrm... I dont like the sound of dog or falcon, the predators dont really need them. P2 took out a whole drug gang without a chiahuhua by his side right? But I guess it depends of how they use them.
And the "super predators"... why do they need to be super? They are great as they are already... or are they not? *goes and cries in the corner*
But other then that it sounds interesting... I guess. Just have to wait and see.

not to labour the point, but one of the problems i'm having w/ the animals is this : to be "cool" and inventive, they're going to have to be pretty fricking mental. The dog will have to be, say, like a Rottweiler on steroids, maybe slightly reptillian, massive fangs. or think, perhaps, the Kothoga? and the problem is this : if they're not super cool and lethal, what's the point in them? and if they ARE, they take the attention away from the Predators. will they hit the right balance? it's either gonna get fans dribbling because they're getting multiple mental monsters, or they're gonna be p155ed cos the animals got more screentime/cooler scenes/kills the Pred should have had.
again, i simply don't see the need for this. i'm seeing the whole "King Kong" remake problem again ~ chronic overkill.
