Potion bottle from "Death becomes her"

Very cool potion bottle. Probably balanced from underneath by magnet. If it was a found item, would probably be possible to illuminate transparent resin from within with and LED....

Like the looks of it very much.

CG as far as I know - bottle looks custom.

:)

Maybe the fluid was CG but is it possible to create such an balanced bottle, that stand alone?

Again, I'm guessing it was CG - but sure, I guess it would be possible but there would have to be something above to steady it.

I dont remember this scene very well but I do know that a magnet would not help here in keeping the bottle up. The only way a magnet would be useful would be if the scene was filmed upside down, with the bottle hanging.

I thought this would be a cool prop to have for years (I wouldn't mind the potion either). I actually really enjoyed the movie.

I'm not sure how they achieved the effect. I used to think magnet too, just b/c it looks just like one of those floating pens when it's set down. However, in order to do that you would need a magnet placed above or on it's sides to hold it up. Otherwise a magnet wouldn't work any better than gravity. It would just be a force pulling down on it.

heres how i would do it....

i would machine the tip down to a point, then i'd machine a "bar" on the end of that point, that would stick down into the base. the "tip" would sit flush with the base, so it would appear to be balanced, but in reality, the "bar" would be the support... since the bottle wouldnt be that heavy.
imagine if this were the bottle sitting on the base, except the base was cut in half, right where the bottle is:

The bottle was a cool prop...id say the scene showing the bottle was computer generated...seems like they used this alot through the movie. Another cool prop would be the pins goldie and meryl wear.

This has been on my wish list forever. I had asked Kevin a couple of years back if he could do a run of these since he has experience with glass props. He had looked into it but concluded it was too complicated :(.

So if anyone ever takes this on, I'm in :D

Anyway, I had taken a load of grabs from the DVD, but they're on my other PC.

I'll get & post them in a couple of hours time after I've consumed my morning coffees and am seeing straight :lol

Perhaps, but it would be close to impossible to get the look of glass :(

I was more thinking of 3d printing the whole thing and then making mold to cast the different parts in resin, then the glass parts could be made from clear and the metal parts could be plated.

Really good idea that !

Hope someone takes on the project :cool

In mine too!!! This Potion Bottle is probably most famous out there, I mean there no similar to this one! AT ALL!!!

I found this "cheep" Replica of the Bottle (but I'll say it's darn good for replicating it for the first time, I mean the "Egg") - Death Becomes Her Immortality Elixir Prop Custom Engagement - YouTube

Not bad at all. Thanks for sharing :thumbsup

I would be interested too...

There are also pics from some of the screenused props (Helens book, flyer and the wedding photo), would be cool to have those... Because (and you all know it) I hate to have a single piece from a movie, it should be 2 or 3... :lol

Just have the business card from the immortality woman...

I remember the movie, but not the actual scene(s). Does the bottle ever move on the mirror surface? It could be "bolted down" from underneath. So long as the Vile wasn't too heavy, a small hole in the glass could be made.

If too heavy, the glass would easily crack when bolting it down. Especially if someone were to touch it.

Edit: Maybe even an attachment glued to the glass on the side off camera?

Just thoughts...
