Potion bottle from "Death becomes her"

Here you go. Looks to have a magnetic wiggle/sway when Lisle placed it down on the mirror, but it could have been all CGI (since there was moving potion inside). The rest of the shots looked like it was completely stationary. Likely connected to the mirror with a rod or something.

hey thanks for that. I admit I love the egg container maybe as much as the bottle.

Looking at the bottle I notice that the glowy potion section is almost always exclusively below the metal line/seam along the wider portion of the lower half. and that when taken like that it looks an aweful lot like an ink bottle, perfume bottle, or even a decorative door knob atop a lightly frosted cone with the seams hidden by the metallic lines.

you could probably even do an LED swirling mood light effect inside the conical portion of it.

Hey hey holy thread revival! I recently rediscovered this prop and I've added it to my list of near future acquisitions. I've been working with a kickass 3D modeler / prop maker, so I'm going to see if he can tackle the vial, egg, and box.

I've taken a slew of screenshots from Amazon video. These aren't blu-ray sharp, but they're not bad. Below are a few of the vial. If anyone wants more, shoot me a message and I can send em your way.

Having made replica props that coincide with cult films from the 80's and 90's I am now embarking on fabricating this very prop with the intention of making it work like my previous replicas. I hope to post something soon.

Awesome! I've grabbed a ton more reference photos if you need any. Here's the screen used vial.

where is that pic from???
Hmm not too sure, I think I remember it was from an exhibit yeeears ago. It was one of the images I came across when I went down the rabbit hole. I think the rest of mine are just screenshots from the movie and a prop store listing of the outer box's concept art.

Based on its behavior, I think we're probably looking at three props.

One has either a magnet or a piece of ferrous metal in the top and when it was set down on the table, an electromagnet just off camera and right above it was turned on just before Lisle let it go (in order to keep it from flying out of her hand or being tilted as she was setting it on the table). The table is stationary, so it would be easy to build an electromagnet and position it at just the right height to attain balance for the prop without risking it flying up into the magnet.

After it was set down, they switched it to an identical prop with a shaft running through it into the table for the scenes where it's either a long shot and you can't show the magnet, or Lisle interacts with it (like taking the cap off).

The third was a stunt version that was solid clear cast resin.

I don't believe it was composited digitally into her hand, because in other scenes with digital compositing you can still see some artifacts of compositing if you slow it down and look at it closely, but the scenes with the vial don't have anything like that in them. And prop guys always try for the simplest approach first, and a physical bottle suspended by a magnet would be easier to make than a CGI version or a bottle suspended by a bluescreen arm and then digitally painted out, and would do the job just fine.
