Ever wanted a nice run down of the most expensive props ever sold - well I saw this and though you guys might like it also.
I am curious how right it is .. I half expect everyone to tear it apart with the real list :)

Apparently that James Bond lotus submarine was lost for a while. Some guy bought a shipping container that was locked up at an auction for bugger all and when they unlocked it there it was! What a find!

That poster is pretty cool. I've often thought Greg Jein hero phaser pistol would sell for a million+. Do you hear that Greg? You've made some wise decisions about what to purchase for your retirement one day. :)

Yeah if you think about it it's a really limited list as there are MANY other items that could've been included. Still pretty cool to see though.

Im assuming the writer only had a limited pool of information. Good graphic though.

I'm guessing that since there's an eBay logo at the bottom, this is supposed to be the most expensive genuine screen-used props that have sold on eBay? Then again, since most of the links are not eBay links, perhaps it is supposed to be all-inclusive? The creator's intended meaning is rather vague.

I can't speak to all of them, but #10 Lucas's Panavision camera is clearly not a prop (at least not from Star Wars), the #11 U.S.S. Enterprise model is identified as a replica, and it seems to me that there's a lot of room in the bottom portion of the list where more expensive examples could probably be found. IMO not a very good list, certainly not an accurate "top 33 most expensive" ever list.

@edspaged2: Did you see the somewhat recent episode of American Restoration where one of the submarine Lotuses was restored? I thought it was odd that it was initially in such poor condition, because I'm sure I had seen it perhaps 10-15 years ago in a traveling exhibit, and it was in much better condition then. Or was the one on exhibit a different one? Or is there a different story that I don't know about?

Well it doesn't really say that is' a list of the 33 most expensive props. Just a list of 33 props, ordered from most expensive to least. I remember years ago a Qui-gon lightsaber was sold on ebay for a charity of some kind, and that went for around $50k. Interesting list all the same though, I was not expecting to see anything over 7 figures!

It says "most expensive movie props" right at the top. Going by that, what else are we supposed to think, other than it's a list of THE most expensive 33 movie props, ever?

Wouldn't be the first piece I've read where the title was misleading and not really supported by what is said in the article itself. So the article isn't 100% correct, RPF to the rescue once more, job well done members. Is that your point?

My point is, if my interpretation of the poster's "title" is wrong, then why is your interpretation ("it doesn't really say that is' a list of the 33 most expensive props") correct? How did you come to that idea?

I had a thought from looking at the poster. Get your hands on an original prop....keep it for 20 to 30 years.....u will be able to sell it at a good price?!
