Pictures of Progress: Kyle Katarn Blaster (original Dark Forces)

Needs to be filled and sanded some more. I don't know if I am going to have time to do it though now because of the move I am going to have to make. :/

I wanted to finish and put it up on ebay to raise some money, but I wanted to at least have it finished before I left :cry

I hate putting it on the shelf like that.

I was wondering if anyone could post pictures of the original gun that Kyle used in the first Dark Forces game? Not necessarilly the one that he used in the JK2 game and beyond.

I have seen the JK2 images, but to me, they seem to be bigger than the one in the first DF game. I want to make a smaller version of gun to coincide with the "Pistol" aspect. I have the original game (my dad bought it for me when I was in high school for good grades 4.95 :thumbsup) and it just seems tiny compared to later versions.

I thought that it would be a unique take on the gun by making smaller. Kind of like a if 007 went after the Death Star plans. :ninja

If anyone could post some images, I would greatly appreciate it.

Are you talking about the briar pistol? If you know the name of the gun I can try and dig the model out of the game.

In the original dark forces (where he wasn't a jedi) i think they're all sprites, so a screen cap is all you'll get.

Jedi Knight, It'd take some work to get those and I don't know what i'll get.
Jedi Knight II, I can get models/textures out of
Jedi Academy, i can get model's out of, too.

Just let me know what gun if it's in JKII.

FWIW, in JKII I can get: stormtrooper blaster, bowcaster, briar pistol (what you start the game with), demp2?, mine, disruptor, golan_arms?, heavy repeater, imperial pistol, merr_sonn, stun baton, thermal det.

Hey, thanks for the images. The one I am working on is the one from Dark Forces: The one that you have right below. All the images I keep coming up with are too small. The one that you have posted is a good one. The one that came in the manual is a really good shot, but way too small.

So far, I have the handle pretty much sanded and done. The body of the gun is still a little too big, but I have to put the grooves along the top and make the cuts along the sides. Once I get more done, I will post pictures of what I have done to this point.

Those shots are likely all you'll get. The original DF was all sprite based for the guns and such as I recall.

I have the rough body and handle done now. I need to get new batteries for the camera before I can post pictures.

It is small, but it fits along what I was going for.
