Here are some more shots of the big one. It's very heavy and all metal. I'm thinking it would make a great little table lamp if I can find a colored Acrylic tube to fit it in. I will start casting these shortly

Oh there's a thing, it has a very similar brass fitting as WW2 to 1950's A.M. cockpit lamps as used in ESB in a couple of places. Your lamp's other main use was in TV/film studio cue light systems (check me pic) - although the lenses went flat-top style sometime in the late 60s. The large bezels were last used in the recent 'Dr Who: An Adventure In Space & Time' on the cue light, supplied by 'Golden Age TV'.

Will be cool to see it lit up. So 1970s lol.

Not bad, I am working on my forth
I am going to have one in each corner of my prop room fitted with LED's inside so they act as room lights:cool I'm getting some Birthday cash in a couple of weeks so I'm going to get the lamp machined from Aluminium in two parts so I can mold the Bezel separately and get it vacuum metalized in chrome. I will also get the aerials made. Once this is done I'll offer the lamps, aerials and maybe the backplate in the junkyard.

TIL there's one of these lights in the interrogator's massive dimple on the underside. I thought that was a completely bare/smooth hole. mind. blown.

I have got the large one molded, here are two with the Black bezel to fit on the interrogator droid

I have got some Alclad II chrome paint to try on the Bezels but I broke my airbrush so I'm just waiting for a replacement.

The paint I had mixed "eats" the plastic of the viewers, making them matte and somewhat "pitted" instead of shiney :cry

It sounds like you need to apply a primer first to protect the plastic. i do that for plastic car models that i build. Any 'non-etch' primer should help and it will give your base a consistent colour.
