Phaser Build - Star Trek III - 3D Printed

That would be better! (Thanks!) It would also require more EE type work. The red and yellow elements were supposed to blink, out of phase whith each other, so that sometimes they were on together. I can wire a battery through a resistor to a LED, but I think you'd want some actual circuit design (and probably a custom PCB) to cram that much into the P1... It is a bit beyond my electrical skill at the moment.

Ok yeah, checked and that is indeed the right part. And I am right there with you about it being more circuit work - which is why mine is still in its little baggie, instead of in a phaser :lol

Before locating that part I originally built mine with a clump of red and yellow blinking T1 LEDs under a diffused lens for a similar effect... but it still isn't "right," which is maddening! :wacko

This is an incredible build, and I'm really impressed with the print from shapeways.

between this and that 3d printed portal gun it's seeming more and more like a valid option if you've got the funds free.

the belt clip is inpired as well.

OMG, this is my absolute favorite trek phaser of all time and your build it stunning.

Please offer this to the rest of the world, or at least to those of us on the RPF ;)

Yup. My favorite phaser, and you've done an excellent job of it!

I'll need to clean up my 3d model of a Phaser IIB to create my own, but I know you have a bunch of interest if you decide to do a run of these. :)

This is beautiful. This phaser and the Assault phaser from V and VI are my favorites.

Has anyone 3d printed the Assault phaser?

That is astounding! Great build. The replicator has arrived and the future is now! But- I will always cherish my Rich Coyle HANDmade version :)

NICE!!! I've got a Richard Coyle ST3 myself but I'd LOVE to add one of these in my collection! Now, all you gotta do is have the ST3 Communicator made... ;)

Beautiful Phaser build.

I found out that AA/DST will offer one by the end of this year, but yours looks more accurate :)
And I love the idea of a retractable belt clip and the gunmetal gray paint, too!

Thanks, Gamera68!

I, too, had been waiting for AA/DST to do this phaser- for years. And then I realized that the only way I could be sure they would release one is if I went and tried to build the perfect replica on my own! (And I also still love the belt clip.)

WOW! amazing. How I wish I had a 10th of your skill. I am in love. By any chance do you sell your creations as kits or as finished? if so I would like to be a customer

Thanks!

I have no plans to sell anything at this time, though.

Wow! A sweet Star Trek III Phaser build is what I need right now—and an old topic/post that drew me right back to the RPF!!!
I’ve also been leaning heavily towards building a Trek III phaser lately and have been searching for decent 3D printed kits on Etsy and eBay for ones that arrive in kit for and also just hollow enough in the right places that I might be able to shoehorn some electronics in. I hadn’t even considered having some piece from Shapeways being made for me, so a BIG THANKS for this.

Again, sorry for digging up a 10-year old topic, but that’s the Beaty of RPF
