Pepakura without cutting

I guess I should pop back in on this. Since my last posting ( a while ago now) I popped out the 225.00 for the Craftrobo though this is the Silhouette SD and must say I am very please at the purchase. This thing makes pepping a TON easier. Now there is a bit of adjusting to do but Mel's papercraft page explains it way better then I ever could. If you like pepping and want to cut a lot of time out of it pick one of these bad boys up. I'll post back with some of my stuff I've done, it's mostly IM but I've pepped a Dredd helmet and the Green Goblin as well.

Hey guys, this is my first post. I'm currently working on my first Pep build. Once completed I hope to have a full Iron Man War Machine costume. Thus far I've printed and cut out all the helmet pieces, holy crap..what a job. About 20 hours of cutting and about 15 hours of assembly so far. At least it's starting to look like something.

The question I have is regarding the CraftRobo...after cutting out the helmet I have no feeling left in my pointer finger with a blister at the tip, I'm ready to purchase one of these bad boys. The issue I'm having is finding one to buy....where is the best place to purchase on of these units?

Thanks in advance

Amazon is where I got mine. It's a good place to start

Hey all! im just curious if anyone has had any luck with the cricut expression? i noticed this thread is a bit outdated... it is now 2013 and i just realized my wife had a cricut expression out in the garage... i am in the middle of an ironman markvii build and would LOVE it if someone knew that the cricut could work? any advice would be greatly appreciated! thanks in advance!

the cricut had a law suite against the third party programs and unless you can find an old pre law suit version it wont work

Hello,

I currently have a Silhouette CAMEO. This cutting tool works a beauty!
Perfect clean cuts every time. All these types of cutting tools (Craft Robo, Cricket, Cameo, etc.) make cuts clean and simple every time!:D

I for sure recommend any of these cutting tools to any Pepakura builder.:thumbsup
The Props 211,

I apologise... I did not know this dead thread was bumped...

Is there a newer thread for using vinyl plotters to cut pepakura files?

I have a Silhouette Cameo (v1)..

and have always wanted to try Pepakura.... (but manually cutting has always turned me off)

What is the current recommended tool-chain and process for using a Silhouette Cameo vinyl cutter?

I'm not quite clear how to get the different cuts for solid, all the-way-through cuts? and scoring cuts as mentioned?

I have the Adobe Suite, so if Illustrator is needed, thats fine.

Let me know gang! :)

thanks!

I believe i might have found a way to get pep files into something that my Cricut should be able to cut for me. With a little extra work, I think i can export into a pdf and load each file into the online design space, easily mark out the white sections (since they are boxed in by the solid lines) and have it "cut" the paper as it would a vinyl graphic (set to the depth of the cardstock) and create "stickers" of sorts for each piece on the pep page. I'll try it this weekend and see if i can get some of the pieces cut. The only drawback would be that there would not be any fold lines, however, If you run it through the first time and swap the blade with the pen to "draw" the outline, it might be possible to show where the peak/valley fold lines should be. I'll let you know what i find out.
