Pee-Wee's Big Adventure Bike

I've just about given up on the tiger sculpt anyhow, BTW I found a place to get sheetmetal or aluminum plate lasercut. I got a quote for the the front wheel discs and skirts. But first I want to make sure they fit like I want them to, before spending the money on real parts.
Not sure if Ed will be joining me on this one yet, it's cheaper than the water jetting idea.

Damn, I was purposely avoiding this thread because I knew what it would do to me. I should have listened to myself, because now I've spent the last few hours scouring craigslist and ebay for a Schwinn DX... You guys are an inspiration.

Hm, that target bike is close, but I'd prefer not to have to cut and weld too much on the frame. Maybe as a last resort, but I'll keep up the craigslist searches for now.

That Tiger is looking amazing btw.

i think thats actually a good price for it, i bought mine peice by peice and have over 600 in it..be a good starting point.

Abe, ill post pics of my stuff when my buds done cutting it out. im sure if you like it and send me templates he will trim it out of some ahem airplane parts for you for far less..he loves government jobs at work. once my chainguard is mounted up im goin to build the skirts, need the guard to align everything.

Guys if your in Los Angeles, just got to the LBC cycle swap you pick up a frame for about 80-100 bucks. All the customs I'm building are based on starting with a house painted frame. It a shame, a damn shame to mess up a nice bike like to to repaint. But that one is a repaint!

That being said, the bike your looking at is probably already sold at it has the fenderbomb on it, which could get you about 150.00 bucks by itself, if it is an original.

The springer is incorrect as are the wheels, sprockets.
though that springer is about 100.00ish, S2 wheels another 65.00
So you might get away with a free frame and hardware.
You can proably sell or trade on ratrodbikes for the correct parts.

Kxazbug, is you chainguard going to be metal??

Thanks for tip on the LBC cycle swap, unfortunately I work every single weekend. The guy hasnt called me back on that bike, so I'm not very hopeful.

I'll be going to the next one, I am looking for one other frame but I find one, I'll get it.
I guess I have a DX fetish.

Abe is right.. You can pick up a frame fairly cheap. I purchased one complete DX for $150 which im restoring and i picked up another frame which i thought i overpaid for that was like $100 bucks.. In all honesty, the frame is all you use unless you can find a bike with a nice set of handlebars and correct fenders. Most bikes this age will have alot of rust and will need to have the parts restored which is expensive. You can piece together a bicycle with new or restored parts fairly cheap. Almost everything else is reproduction or BMX stuff.

Peruna,
Ed and I are working on this and haven't gotten that far yet, if we do end up making as ready to install, the paint on the tiger might be just yellow and red with the eye painted. Not weathered. I'm really feeling a garage kit, "you paint it" version coming on.

Indeed. I'd be more than happy to get just a frame, if I could find one. The search continues.

im here in Pittsburgh Pa..dont really see to many old bikes as most of them are five minutes down the street in the bicycle heaven museum.or so it seems...dont see much of anything old with are salty wet winters..chainguard is going to be aircraft aluminum.. top lip tig welded on..already seen a few pieces and they look good. he also wants to do the skirt guards for me also..lucky my friend is a Pee Wee fan also and loves doing any kind of fun little side jobs he can.
