Pee-Wee's Big Adventure Bike

A couple of small updates.

I picked up an old Mercury/Ford hot rod starter button and while it had a great look to it and I liked the fact you could push it, my problem with it is that it has the word START written on it. I'm going to keep it and take it and a picture up the machine shop and have them make me an accurate tank button.

I also picked up what I thought was the correct Super Siren off of Amazon this week. When I got it though it had the yellow decal and not the white one on it. I was a little bummed. Does anyone where to find one with the accurate decal?

just read through 1782 posts, what a great job you guys are doing. abelugo, i recognized you from the hamb, your profile over there says 'custom bike', i think you need to own up to what you really got going on.

You came from the hamb to call me out? i have a few vintage cars and few classic bicycles and i have a custom built harley, i built, thats it. O yeah and this really close X1 replica. I called my custom harley, a custom bike way back when, the jockey journal was cool. Or even when the hamb was smaller thing. Anyhow thanks for reading the posts, its quite agrivating when people just go to the last post and say i need this or i need that.

These guys doing a great job figuring it out and making parts. This year has been a bit difficult with getting a house and a lot work at my day job.

The Hamb is great source of info for hot rods and customs but not so much for bikes. So i came here for the movie aspect and the cabe for the bike aspect of the project.

Abelugo - What's the current state of tiger siren casts / kits? I've been following this thread awhile, and it sounded like there might be kits again sometime in the future .. just curious. Or if you have photos of the case pieces and assembly, I wouldn't mind trying to fabricate my own if necessary (the only photo of the internals I have seen is from the guy who broke his while riding).

Did anyone ever create bucks to vacuum form tanks? I have access to a vacuum forming machine, so this is another part I wouldn't mind fabricating. It looks like since this thread started, the bicyclebones tanks have gone up about $40.

BTW - Thanks to everyone who has helped ID the parts over the years. I've wanted one of these bikes since I saw Big Adventure in the theater almost 30 years ago (!). I'm acquiring the relatively easy-to-find parts now, and sandblasted my '52 DX frame tonight. Hopefully I'll have more parts soon if eBay sellers don't bankrupt me first (why does it cost $30 to ship fenders?) ..

Just to put it out there, the plan was to only sell three more sirens.
I'm holding off on selling any for the time being (really don't need the cash). Some people got butt hurt about thinking they were going to get one, but I never took money or promised them specifically I would sell them one. Also some of the people on here found the guy that help me cast and tried to circumvent me and get them from him, but once again that is just not cool.
When my sirens were available, it was like pulling teething to sell them. Now I feel like your bike should be about 90% done and only need the siren and maybe the bags, then I'll think about it. Basically, I want to make sure my sirens go on legit bikes.

I believe Bestbike my be making his own siren, you may want to PM him.

The one siren that got out there as a kit was for a buddy and I know he is into the project. The other thing about this, is that most projects either get broken up, never finished, or in the end they just get sold. I almost want to buy back the other two sirens that got out there, as I never saw their bike builds.

I would recommend getting the metal tank or getting a fiberglass one, I have a vacuum formed to tank for my bike, but also have a fiberglass one that will go on there soon.

Once again you can get most of the main bike parts if wait and ask for the them on thecabe.com forum, the custom parts or aftermarket parts are mostly through ebay and some amazon retailers.

Yeah 30 bucks on shipping for fenders, sheesh!

I've offered a couple of the parts I've custom made so far, but didn't get any interest. I assume that most people who are on this thread already have pretty much everything.

The next part I'm working on is a laser cut face plate to go on the KansasJack tiger siren. Hopefully I will have that and the delta fins ready to go in the next week or so.

Abelugo - Thanks for the updates. No sweat on the kits, it does look like these bikes take 2 - 3 years to finish anyway. If you (or anyone else here) has good reference photos or measurements of the pieces for fabrication, that would help. Where did you guys find the original Tigre Della Strada anyway?

Droidboy - Out of curiosity, what custom parts do you have extras of?

I'm still fairly early in parts collecting .. currently after fenders, springer fork, and wheels/tires so it's atleast rideable. There is a big swap meet here in Austin in a couple weekends, I'm hoping to pick up some parts there. I've had decent luck finding parts on eBay for cheap, but it does seem like everything on eBay has gotten expensive (esp. shipping).

Right now I have an extra set of spinner blanks and an extra set of brackets that the Person's siren attaches to.

Hi guys, I'm not building a bike, but I saw this at a museum last month and thought it might be good for reference. :):cheers

What museum is that? Did you get any more photos?

Off-topic: I stumbled on that photo recently while looking for info on the animated clown. I've found a few owners online (incl. a store in Louisville that has one on display), but can't seem to find any info on who produced these. The stock outfit seems to be yellow/green/red, which you can see peeking out of his sleeve in your photo.

Here is my starter bike. It is a prewar bike. I will be pretty much needing everything. I have so far:
Compass
Donkey dicks
Messinger saddle

I am proficient at fab work and bike restoration. I have IM'd a couple of you nice folks out there to help me with chainguards, saddlebags and frame section cutouts. Seems like a wealth of info and nice people here. Look forward to talking to you all. Where do I get the elusive tiger siren?? Thanks

Great looking bike!

I got my tiger horn from KansasJack. It doesn't come with the instrument plate but I'm working on having that done so it is screen accurate.

Oh....another thing I'm working on. Since the Delta Rocket Super Rays are so hard to find I made a mold of the lid of a Super and made a fiberglass pull.

Does someone have the saddlebag molds or can you make me a set? I would also like the templates for the frame fillet and the chainguard please. I will need taillights and also templates and or the actual cutouts for the fender skirts as well. Thanks again. Paul

I haven't seen anyone offer the saddlebags. It seems to be a build your own thing.

The fillet is going to be different for every bike. The manufacturing standards were quite different back then and they are all a little different.

I'll keep you posted on anything I make extras of

Ok, thanks. I will also be needing to ge the project box for the handlebars. I'll scroll back and see who has spcific items. Thanks again
