Pee-Wee's Big Adventure Bike

Siren bracket-
a bit rough but you get the picture. Some cutting and welding and turning one the metal roller involved.

thanks Abe, is all of that welded together? the small brackets near the 1 .5 and welded script..so it doesnt really have a adjustment. it looks easy enough to fab up.

I think the small pieces should be riveted together, then bolted to the loop bracket. I have a real bracket on my desk at work, and is very similar in that part, but right there it's got a spring to create a pivot.
I made my look bracket on a sheet metal roller.
BTW the real siren on the movie bikes is cast and doesn't work. 1. the top is covered 2. no chain

First post and just wanted to say thank you to everyone who posted in this thread. Finally getting started on my PW bike reproduction and this helps so much.

I managed to meet PW in and out of costume in NYC at his Broadway theater. So nice and very appreciative of his fans. It definitely fueled my desire to get this going. Got me a DX that I'm starting to strip/paint. Thought about getting one of the Tiger sirens and making a mold, but if one of you guys are doing it, it will def save me some time.

Thanks again all!

Hi Spluge,
yeah Ed has been working on molds for the tiger head for a couple months, we all have day jobs, so that is part of what takes our time. The tiger is resculpted to match the movie tiger. I may sell it in kit form to RPF members. Note that the one we have is the correct housing, there is a small and a large housing.

Welcome, post some pictures of your bike.

thanks think i got it figured out now, btw your plate is going out today in the mail..post some progress pics splurge and welcome to the hardcore PW freaks group..haha nah we all just normal dudes here..

Thanks for the warm welcome guys! I should have pics available once I pick it up from my parents house.

Nothing wrong with being a PW freak! I have a STACK of original Big Adventure cloth patches and buttons I'm happy to share with the fellow PW fanatics here. I passed a few of them out at SXSW when PW did some interviews and premiered his HBO special.

Since I'm here in San Antonio, I cant wait to ride my bike by the Alamo. We definitely should get a group of us together and do a drive by.

edit: posted some stuff from Tim Burton's show at the MOMA last year. The eyes are from the stop motion Large Marge. Couldnt get great pics because security was stopping EVERYONE

wow thats a lot of buttons and patches. are they all original from when the movie came out?

All original, no reprints. The large patches were sewn on the back of crew jackets with the smaller ones on the front.

I'm having trouble figuring out the springer I need. Its for a DX. All the springer info posted is still a little greek to me. Can someone point me to an eBay or other site that has some?

I think I understand this is the right kind to get. Right?

There are like 3 different springers, the correct one should be more like the 70's springer with the "S" on the sides, the bottom of the neck shaft should be cylinder like, do not get a "Schwinn-style" or Pyramid springer, that one is all wrong.
There are some 1995-1998 reproduction ones with "AS" bolts which are close.

The pivot bolt should intersect the rear pivot forks, the older springers have the pivots offset to the rear of the rear ford, that is an older style Schwinn Springer, also it comes as a locking springer, still incorrect.

If you wait long enough they'll show up, I've gotten all my springers for about 60-75 bucks.
Go through all this threar, I thinkn I posted an images of the correct one.

although my springer on my bike may not be movie correct i opted for a old og schwinn one, i had a new aftermarket one and it constantly came loose..the caster was wrong and it just seemed crappy..but i could of just had a crappy one to begin with.

Thant one is incorrect, you might as well but a pyramid springer, please read throught he whole thread, you see the chrome piece that covers the spring? That should be more cone shaped not a flat strap. These should be like 40.00.

This is the pice I'm talking about
NOS Schwinn bicycle Krate J33 springer YOKE | eBay

Thanks, I think I'm starting to get it. I have gone through the thread several times now and I think I'm understanding the springer situation now. Thanks for the patience.

In other news, found a local guy who will sandblast and paint the bike for me in his auto shop. Hopefully this time next month I'll have the bones in all finished.
