Pee-Wee's Big Adventure Bike

watched the movie shots for the millionth time and noticed the red cables go all over the place in differant shots and even disapear and reappear in others..thanks for those photos Abe, ive got two big foam blocks assembled and will be starting on my side cases soon. gonna be a project.

Hey man,
I just got some stuff called foam coat, if it's the same stuff I've used before, you can coat pink and blue foam and leave a nice hard shell on it.
I bought 2 quarts for my bags Special Effect Supply Corp Main Page
I'm working out the ribbed trims on the bag fronts, not sure yet. I post and image in a bit.

That's what I like to hear, progress! I made a bit of progress myself today. I got the frame in primer, the fork blades and yoke painted, and the majestic siren painted too. The frame should be painted and done by tomorrow night, and the fenders next week. I also just won an auction for a compass.

Heck yeah.
Thanks for the awesome new photos, guys!
Ruddigger, your super close-up of the tiger head made my nerdy day.

Progress shots. I'm not too happy with this color if I'm honest. In some light it looks perfect, in other light it's orangeish. Please excuse my messy living room, lol.

I also got a color that is more pure red, I actually think the real deal has a orangish red color to it. What paint did you use? did you mask in the pinstripe?
Are you repainting the fender struts?
it's looking clean overall.

Here are the saddlebags, I added the rib trim to one, I faux'd some aluminum foil to see what they'd look like.
Before I left work I gave the top rear bad and the one with the ribs a coat of the foam coat. I might go in Sunday or Monday to work on them more.

I used Rustoleum Automotive paint, cherry red. The pinstripes are just white pinstripe tape.

Those bags are looking good Abe.

I've currently got mostly made saddle bags, but the problem is that right now they are far from smooth because they are constructed out of Great Stuff expanding foam. Any suggestions on filling the ridges/giving me a nice smooth finish to work off of?

bike looks great Rudd! Abe thanks for the info on the foam coat. last time i used fiberglass resin brushed on with a big brush, it also makes like a hard eggshell although really stinks my apt up., your bags look awesome!.. im working on gettin mine still the right size and shape..goin off your shots, man i wish i had access to the museum bike so i could actually see and get a real visual on the size and shape..i cant get them close but not as exact as you guys. im also throwing around the idea of having the one black box button actually ignite a small model rocket engine in the center bag( gonna be heat shielded of course) to throw off smoke and a bit of flame..my skirts and new horn tank badges are being cut out this week.

Some other foam coat I got years ago hardened very good, almost too good. I just hope this stuff sands well.
Ryan, the bike is looking great!

BTW guys, the wide bars I'm going to be using are the Wald 898, they seem to be the widest you can get still. Although i do see much wider handlebars at the Cylone Coaster rides in Long Beach

I checked on the foam coat, it a bit rough, so if your going to use it, try to smooth out any rough areas with a damp cloth before it dries.

my bags are being made out of that green floral foam..i think this stuff it great..you can carve it with a knife, sand it to shape and it cuts like butter, but its still hard..you can actually get a smooth non porous finish sanding it..i buy it in the small blocks then glue them all together to make a large piece..costs roughly 12 a side bag in foam

guys, be careful with the foam coat, maybe ask the guy what to water it down with.
My 2 coats dried well but need a bunch of sanding, it left a light dimply surface, not totally smooth. I'll be trying to vac-form the bags and see how they come out. I sanded it down and it dis smooth things ouot, but it does burn through, so you just add a plod of the foam coat in that area and let dry.

more progress- one bag base done- still have to sand and primer then bondo a bit, I'll probably back this up with fiberglass resin and fiberglass cloth behind- I need to cut the wood for it. I also need to cut out the flip up top.
