Pee-Wee's Big Adventure Bike

Thanks for the link. I'll be ordering some of those too!

My bike is back from the bike shop. After a nap I'm going for a ride!

Well, I went and saw the Hollywood bike again, just for fun. A couple things that stood out to me;

The amber tail light is mounted at the very bottom of the bag. (I originally mounted mine this way because I noticed it in my pictures that I took of the bike previously, but after watching the reveal scene I realized there were other bikes that had it more centered. I like it better centered, so I changed it.)

The right side saddlebag has visible screws attaching the bag to the plywood base, whereas the left side has no visible screws at all. I wonder if it was epoxied on originally, and then somebody screwed it on later, when the epoxy gave out. Just a guess, but it would explain the discrepancy.

The taillights aren't centered in the rings, they look ridiculous.

I don't think the upper bag lid has a front portion. I'm talking about the part near the hinge. The Hollywood bike lid is visibly crushed in a way that shouldn't happen if it had a supporting front wall.

The upper bag base is unpainted and uncovered. It's bare plywood. (I primered and painted mine to better protect it from water damage.)

The red cabling is super thick, much thicker than what I have on my bike currently.

These are all things I kind of knew, but looking through my old pictures I wasn't always sure. I didn't get any new pictures, the ones I already had are better than the few I did get. Still fun to see it again though.

Also, I got my magnets in the mail. I mounted 6 in the upper bag, 3 pairs. One pair at the rear and one pair on each side. Now it closes with a nice snap and aligns itself perfectly.

I noticed the center bag on the Hollywood bike did look like the left side was banged up. When I was there I wanted to see the bags but was disappointed when I saw they were non functional. Very cool bike though.

any progress on your bags? Still planning on making new molds? Your center bag looks really nice.

After a trip to a local thrift shop I found something pretty cool:

An old Firestone Warrior Pathfinder, and it has the Shimano Shifter! Only $50

I think my Huffy bike has CMC wheels, I just removed all the surface rust. Unfortunately I can't take em off. I just got the shifter on it fixed so I don't have the heart to destroy it as it's all original. I'm going to have to hunt down those bare wheels myself. What should I do to remove all that rust from the shifter?

Here's a few photo's of it taken apart:

It's got some pretty nasty cobwebs! I also plan on cleaning and selling off that Firestone, probably in seperate pieces or complete if they don't mind not having a shifter! :lol

Also it's got a nice red and white seat which I kind of want to keep.

This past weekend I found one mint cmc wheel with a kk front hub for $20! 180 mile round trip to get it but luckily the gf was willing to go so I could carpool haha.

That same day I bought a set of cmc wheels from a fellow member. So glad I don't have to hunt those down. If I come across any more I will post them on here for anyone who needs them.

Yup the craigslist wheel is correct as well as the other set. I will get some pictures of the craigslist wheel up later, the others should be arriving next week.

I'm also missing the mirror, I was at the Long Beach swap on Sunday but didn't find anything I could use for my x1 build.

I have a friend who found me the shimano shifter, it was nos in the bag. I will be getting my hands on maybe 2-3 more if anyone needs one.

I think I'll be using the shifter I got, just need to get that rust off. I'm probably going to soak it it vinegar overnight and then remove the residue to see if it helps. If anyone's interested in that firestone, or any of it's parts I'll glady sell them once they've been cleaned.

Well, turns out all it needed was some steel wool. Here's the finished product:

I hope that's the correct style wheel haha looks like what the museum bike has.

It is Rudd. A guy on thecabe offered me a DX frame for $125 shipped. Unfortunately it was a straight-bar so I had to say no, he told me he's never seen a curved bottom bar dx. I sent him images and hopefully I'll get a response soon.
