PAYDAY: The Heist

I only have the game on steam, I love it (DUUUH!) but I have heard the console port isn't amazing, the patches arn't up to date but saying that overkill did patch it a few days ago and last time I tried playing it I kept crashing so I can see where you're coming from.

I have it only on PS3. It's had one patch to date, and that was a Day One patch.

i totally misjudged the game, i was to quick to say i was disappointed...

i totally love it now but i am only level 56, i prefer paypay to the new grand theft

just wish i could unlock the hog mask

Joker, I have noticed that when people creates the Payday-masks the faces are either a bit too wide or too long. Yours though, is perfect. How big and what mask did you first use as a model? Or did you just pick up some cheap mask at a local store and used as a base?

Thanks hakerman,

Well luckily for me I had my older brother girlfriend cast my face so I knew it would fit, but one the first set of masks I made I use a cheap death eater mask from harry potter I got from eBay. I covered it in cling film and then started layering clay and sculpting. The only thing was that I had to use more
clay getting the size I wanted.

Nice! What do you have as padding on the inside of the mask? If you do have any, ofcourse. Figured since just having Sculpey (which is what I'll be using) might not feel to comfortable.

And did you do the sculpting directly on the mask? Just started sculpting myself. SO what I am about to do now is layering the clay directly on the cheap mask, just to the clay won't adjust later when I add the features. Did you heat it when you had the ''basic mask'', so it would stay stiff, and then added the lips, nose, eyebrows etc, or did you do bake it when it was completely finished?

Sorry if what I'm about to write doesn't make sense/has loads of grammatical errors/ or doesn't answer your questions. (It's 3am)

What I did what use the cheap mask as an armature/a base to sculpt the clay onto. I used oil based clay and gentle heated it with a heat gun (A hair dryer would work too). Then I just started applying clay, cover the whole mask then I started adding details. After that I smoothed it out and let it settle for abit before casting it.

You don't bake oil based clay it wont dry it will melt. You just let it cool down after you've worked with it. I heard sticking it in the fridge when you're done works though that might make you're silicone set slower, I'm not sure.

I hope that helped (I re-read it tomorrow and edit my tired/delirious ramblings.)

Ah nice! I am using some Polymeclay called Sculpey. Do you have the same ''base'' for all the four masks, and then you just add the details for Hoxton, Dallas etc?
I am thinking about, once I get the base-mask right, to do a mold from it.
Is that something you would recommend? Love your masks btw! :D

Hi,
I would like to dicuss buying one of your masks, just two questions, are these actually wearable?? and do you ship to Australia??
Thanks

Beautiful work on the masks. I found this thread while doing some research for a commision for a wolf mask. Just finished it in time for a con, so I can post pictures later, I just wanted to point out that you want to use a clay that is sulfur free if you plan on doing a silicone mold. Not sure if that was pointed out already.

Wow! I've missed a lot as well! haven't read this thread in ages!

Thanks jokerjack350 for the appreciation on my first mask the dripper.
Now that you are back!!! :) :) :) i was going to ask you...

what clay did you use, i used the one where you wet the clay with water then shape it with your hands.

p.s. I have got a lot of the same clay left, what mask should i do next??? any ideas?

Hi, big fan of your work and it inspired me to try it out myself: Steam Community :: :: Tony would be proud of me! (1/2)
But I have one thing I need a little assistance with, for the straps I used simple elasticated straps and got glued them in, but I seen how cool yours were which had the clips in them, I was wondering where I could get those? I've been able to make head plates from vacume forming polystyrene and got bolts for the straps but finding good straps has been a nightmare, so any advice would be brilliant! Cheers

Decided!!! i will do the out-lander mask!

jokerjack350 have you done any other masks besides the four originals?

Nice work my friend I like it. As for the straps I used elastic and glued them in with some stuff called impact. I also sculpted my owned back plates and casted them.

Then I just strung it all together I'll put some pics up soon if you like
