Paint question.

I have a couple of projects which I'm going to base coat with a matt enamel rattle can paint but I want to wash and highlight with acrylics.

I'm not sure if an acrylic wash will take over the base coat being enamel, the last thing I want is pooling of the wash. Does anyone have some experience with this method?

Thanks in advance,

Malc.

Actually, it's always better to wash with a paint different than your base. So if you base with enamel, wash with with acrylic. And if you base with acrylic, wash with enamel. And if you plan on washing with oil, base with enamel - or give the acrylic 2 weeks to fully cure.

The reason to use different types is so that if you goof up, you can remove the wash without affecting the base coat. Acrylic solvent (i.e. windex), has no affect on enamel and enamel solvent (i.e. mineral spirits), has no affect on acrylic.

Thanks guys I feel more confident now:thumbsup I've used enamel base with oil scrub/wash before but not enamel with acrylics.
