Pacific Rim JAEGER Drift pilot helmet

I will try and post more shots here as I go now but this took about 3 weeks to get to this point and I would be into any feedback you guys might have for me.

Hope you like it.

I have some feedback for you MrPinski.... You're fecking amazeballs. That helm is stunning!

did you spray it gold from the inside? I take it will be a display only piece? The really nicely done.

Concerning decals you will be needing a laser printer to print on transparent decal film, if you can afford color printer even better, of course you can't print anything white. Alternatively you can use stencils and a cheap aerograph to make decals with transparent film

That looks awesome! I wasn't a big fan of the movie but I've wanted to make one of these helmets since i seen it.

Looks amazing! This might be a stupid question but what did you do to make the visor? I'm curious since I'm interested in getting into prop making for myself.

This is so great!

I have a question though, since I'm about to attempt a similar build in the near future. How do you go about making the visor? Obviously it's vacuum formed, but is there a method to making to buck that will ensure it matches the contour of the original master? Do you just have to measure and eyeball a lot? Apologies if it's a dumb question, I looked through your Flickr profess and didn't see any obvious answers.

the buck is made off a casting of the visor section when your mold is made.

That's EPIC!!! Loved the process on your flicker. Very instructive! I do have a question: when shaping the base form from the iso views you printed, was that Styrofoam you used to fill the shape out? If so, what did you use as a sealant prior to bondo? Be had some builds go to jelly because of resin melting my foam....

The for sharing your work! Allows all of us to learn a bit more!!

Cheers!

Thanks. It's insulation foam from the Home Depot. I don't even seal it before bondo actually. It doesn't melt. I have seen guys use acrylic paint before bondo and PU resin works as well.
