P2 Closed Mouth Build. Raw Latex 1St Pull P24 24/11/11

All in all, I'm glad things worked out in the end. And like George said, there is a lot to be learned from trial and error.

Still looks like a ridiculously sick mask. The paint job is really going to bring this puppy to life.

If I may ask, how much silicone did you use? And how much do you think you would you have needed to do it the way you originally hoped to?

Sorry to here about the cast, thats a bummer. Is there nothing that can be done to save it?

it does not need saving.............. its fine, just not really a option for a mask.

crikey now i wish id just lied lol.

EDIT : wooooooooooohoooooooooooooooo 1st silicone P2 head, came out perfect. paint up soon.

Probably just a 1lb more or so, its just alittle thinner than my p1, probably me just being anal, but forgot it was bigger than my p1, i just used a container that i had for my p1, and i did not weight it sorry.

Even though it's the first silicone pull you've done I think it looks really great! how many coats did you end up doing with the 1lb or so of it? and how many would you recommend if it was to be done again? Once I get set up and start doing my first sculpt I would also like to try the silicone route at least once ( and since it will be my first sculpt It won't really bother me if it doesn't come out great.. lol)
Non-the-less great job overall and it looks great man!!
Cheers,
Carlos

hi lee its a shame it didnt go to plan for you !as said quote "WHY DO WE FALL DOWN?,SO WE CAN PICK OUR SELF UP AGAIN!" and a fella like yourself will have no probs with that!!.

GUYS I AM NOT SAYING IT FAILED OR AM I UPSET IN ANYWAY.

AGAIN as i said above lol, i am purely showing it did not go exactly as planned, but as you can see the silicone eventually came out a success. :p

1st latex one in the mould. I am probably going to keep this one ( i have a plan for WHEN i finish my p1 suit lol )

looking forward to seeing how it comes out of the mould, but in the UK ****** temps, i am guessing it is going to be wednesday or thursday grrrrr.

Ah ok ok.. lol thanks people around here say more or so as if it was (more or less).. I'm surrounded by hicks here and getting used to bad grammar.. lol

So you think if I would get a gallon it would be more than enough to make a mask or is that overkill??

US gallons are different to UK lol ( more confussion )

But i did not meassure as i was just going by a rough thickness guesstimate thing lol.

sorry not very helpful huh.

youre gonna paint one righ, when you pull them? cause i love seeing your paint ups, and that head came out wonderful :)

I will be painting the silicone one up at some point in the next week i hope. :D

hey lee i hope your going to one of the troops with the uk clan would be great to see u fella!!

Well i intend on leaving the UK next year, so i do not know if any events will be on and even if i will have my suit done by then, and besides the furthest i am prepared to drive is Birmingham.

Awesome, put me down for that masterpiece of a mask painted....cant wait to see you paint that silicone mask Lee. By the way...Storm is coming...12-16 foot swells...get your ass out here :p

lol thanks D, im actually not sure i will get time to paint the silicone mask now ( long boring story )

Sadly my knee wont permit me to do much more than paddle about still :(

Lee the mask looks great. Despite the fact it did not turn out the way you wanted it to. This silicone stuff is just too cool! Its got me so excited to experiment.

Of course mistakes teach us valuable lessons, glad you posted it here for people to remember. Mechanical lock is a bitch. I am guessing the white colored silicone lends itself well to being painted a flesh tone?

How do you attach dreds to this? cutting holes or some silicone glue?

Good job dude.
