Oz farmhouse model

Nice model. The Wizard of Oz is one of my all time favorites. I was thrilled to have met Jerry Maren last year. I didn't think I'd ever have a chance to meet someone who was in it.

What a great change of pace .

Very well done. I had an idea for the ultimate display for this model. Mount the house on a rod from one of the lower corners, so the house balances on one of the corners, then motorize the rod so that the house slowly spins on the corner. Perhaps add some debris in a wire ring that surrounds the house as well. Like it.

Now that's original. Any history on the model itself that you found, or any building stories?

Finding reference on this particular model was difficult, as i wanted it to be in the correct scale.
The house used in the film was actually 5 different versions. The lifesize "Crashed " house in munchkinland was built first. Then the lifesize stage version was built for the Kansas scenes to match.
The Model was built in two different sizes, a 3ft version for the twister's approach scenes, and a smaller version for the swirling/floating/falling through the twister scenes.
Oddly enough, the models have never surfaced publically.
Jay Scarfone and William Stillman's book " the Wizardry of Oz" has the original blueprints recently found in the MGM vaults of the lifesize stage sets. That's what i based my model on.
