Apophis is a site administrator and partner with studioscalemodeler.com and I'm pleased to have him on board. Apophis is also our kit review specialist so if you have a kit you would like to sell it would be a good idea to have it reviewed this way your customers can see what is involved in building your product and this benifits both the buyer and you as the kit maker.
The site is always being updated with new studio scale models from builders everywhere we are trying to make a website that is full of content and pictures for people who are building a studio scale model to see what others have done on their builds.
If you have certain modeling techniques you would like to share with others feel free to contact either one of us and we will see to it that it gets on the site.
Currently there are about 6 studio scale models that aren't on the site yet and will be very soon.
Thanks to those of you who have submitted your pictures to us it's great to have your participation in building the site for studio scale models.

I guess your interest in the cannon shrouds went a little beyond completing your personal kit... :lol :rolleyes

EDIT: Just a caution; word travels fast in this community.

Since you were dishonest with me, I'd prefer that you remove the pics of the Nice-N Models TIE I built from your site. Of course, it's up to you. But, I hope people realize that misrepresenting yourself and your intentions is not the way to get in with and support this talented community.

Dirty pool indeed :unsure . This is just how parts like this dry up and disappear for good. Making a profit by lying is not what this hobbies about man. Im sure the "parts that make up (insert model)" threads on the site will stay barren even more so now.

I don't see what the big deal is about offering parts to people who want to build there model from scratch.
Some people like myself would rather search and find the correct parts to build a studio scale model.
A studio scale model is not a complete resin kit, its a replica of a studio model right? a studio scale model is built using the exact same items the studio used thats what the site is about.
So the site is about finding what parts and models were used in building these studio models which is studio scale modeling correct me if I'm wrong..

Then i suggest doing the homework on your own maybe? Using people by lying here will just get you ostracised in a way. Its instances like this that drive prices on donor kits/parts way up out the reach of the average Joe, there is an etiquette to Studio modeling, well, so ive learned over the past few years, some guys will help, others prefer to keep it low on the radar, Allans intention maybe? It seems he threw you a bone anyways, whether he stated to keep it close to your chest i dont know.

Geeze- what went on here? Does this have to do with the TIE shrouds and studioscale offering them for sale on his site?

Mark

The feeling I am getting here is if I were to aquire lets say 100 airfix saturn V model kits in 1/144 and then offer them for sale on the site would I still get this same type of repsonse?? we all know the saturn v was used on many of the star wars studio models and the website studio scale modeler is to help provide information about how to build studio scale modeler hence the name "studioscalemodeler.com".

I thought that was a great idea in offering those hard to find kits and parts to the average joe at a decent price and tyhat person would not have to fight the other and drive up the price because there would be enough of said part to go around for everyone and also help eliminate the headache of searching foir the elusive part, now if you like to take and burn up your time looking for it that s up to you, we just thought it would help, im sorry if people feel that it would infringe upon ones hard work, if we comunicate with each other and not fart around then we probably wouldnt have this problem to begin with.

Great idea maybe Jerry, but im sorry, thats not the crux of what the problem is, Allan is not happy he shared the source and got burned is all. Some of these guys have spent years and thousands of $ searching and the original source may not want his find shared, i think that guy has that right. Someone who makes a rare find and wants to share, then power to them too. Im not saying its not a good idea, just the way it was carried out is all, even my feeble brain knows that part is pretty scarce and requires some homework, and i know jack on TIE's. Im not after an argument bro as i dont even have a dog in this, its just not the way to do things if you want to move on in the hobby as other builders could close up on you.

Maybe we did get a little ahead of our selves, but our intentios were in the spirit of helping others too, and in lieu of what has transpired, we will try harder in doing our OWN research, on a different note, NOT i repeat. NOT of what has occured in above posts... Now if we find an object that is hard to find and include it in the package deal and some one says they found it first, what is to be done??
Poor Joe, spent years and hundreds of dollars to find this part and never wanted to tell anyone, and i find it and tell everyone and joe gets pissed off and calls me out then what am i gonna do??
I dont know im still new to this and maybe i have to learn the hard way?
Like i said what i have said here has NOTHING to do with Allen and Steve And Dan.

Hard work?? Yeah it took me awhile to find the supplier and Allan did not tell me what the part was Did you Allan?? you would not tell me, I told you what it was and how I thought what is was because of my background, now please step up and tell everyone you did not tell me where to find or what the part is, I told you and you , remember?? because people are getting the impression you told me and I went out to get them.

Allen,

I think there is an easy way to settle this-

1. Did you tell him where to find the part?

2. Did you or anyone request that he NOT buy more than he needed for himself or buy up the remaining stock?

If the answer is no to both of these, then I don't see what the problem is.

it has been brought to my attention that I should tell what transpired between Allan and myself.

I had told allen that I would not sell the shrouds if he told me where to BUY them, but he wouldnt tell me, now if he told me then yes I would be an ^$%# for selling them if he had told me, but he would not reveal the part name or its source, once I did the leg work then my opbligation not to sell them ceased when I did the searching and finding.
So I already knew what they were intentionally used for, so I found them and at the time I made the call I was only going to order 4, but the operator told me what he had in stock was it and not get anymore, so I bought them all, at that point in time I mentioned I wasn't going to sell them but a day later I was presented with an opportunity to provide modelers parts they could use, if I didn't then the company who had them in stock would sell whats left to companies that needed these parts for their correct intentions of use, I was just capturing an item that has been discontinued for over a year now.

there you have it.

Stepping up... Can you say "Maschinen Krieger"?

Dan sent me this email:

"ok, what are the cannon shrouds? are they --- housings?
i am looking to make my own tie more accurate and not sell these parts,
maybe i can find something close to it but this is the only parts my tie are lacking
and then mine will be complete i dont care if i have to order a bunch i just
need to finish my own.know what i mean?

i wont say a word I promise.. i give you my word."

I replied "on the nose" to signify that they are --- housings. Dan then emailed about the Harrier pilot, and I provided him with information on that and dimensions for the TIE cannon stalks, the size of LED and how to mod them. Never heard from him again.

Today, I see studioscalemodeler.com claims to be selling the correct cannon shrouds at $2.25 each. These pieces, the correct ones, cost 7 cents each. That's not the problem, though.

The problem is he told me that he didn't want to sell cannon shrouds, just finish his own model. So, why is he selling cannon shrouds, now.

Another issue is that swpropmaker put in a lot of time to track down parts. He offers a kit. Dan was asking me where to get Koolshade. Whether I would allow him to cast some of my scratchbuilt parts to sell on his site. I told him that he needed to work through swpropmaker. It's Steve's kit. I just modified some parts. When I saw he was selling the shrouds I contacted Steve to see if they had a business arrangement. Steve had never heard from Dan before.

Technically, Dan selling the cannon shrouds is fine. Evidently, he found them (I'd want to make sure they're the correct size before buying any). However, asking for my help with that and other parts of the TIE, as well as build information, and telling me that he doesn't want to sell anything, was clearly a lie. He told me he didn't want to sell cannon shrouds. Now, he's selling cannon shrouds.

Since, I'm the one who demonstrated the correct part (which I found with Steve's help) in my buildup thread, and Dan isn't working with Steve, it makes me look like I went behind Steve's back. It's just really poor form, all around.
