I was vastly more knowledgeable than you BEFORE ever setting foot in the archives.
And since being there, I've touched more screen used props/costumes than you ever will in your lifetime. Comparing your meager experience to mine is laughable.
All your jealously and snarky remarks won't change that fact.
The truth is that your role in this hobby has been marginalized, not for any other reason than it's been years since you've really had anything useful to contribute (and even then I would question those contributions which was either bad info, or info that you basically regurgitated from others' hard work).
Trust me, I'm not the only one who feels that way.
PS, it was a full day and surely not the last.

What is everyone hoping to achieve with all this bitchiness, I find this thread an uncomfortable read, can't you guys just agree to dis-agree and move along.

BTW I've probably handled more screen-used Star Wars pieces than both of you put together and I have friends who have done so more than me........but we are all still learning.

Hopefully new research will uncover more facts over the coming years and isn't that the most exciting part of the hobby?

Gino, As far as contributions to this hobby I dont think there would be many people who think you've contributed more than me to this hobby, even if Ive been out of it for the last 18 months.

Your contribution to this hobby has been to take everything from everyone and provide nothing apart from negativity and sniding arguments. People only have to do a search for "Gino" on this forum and its completely apparent.

To suggest I "regurgitate" others work is hilarious when in this very thread you've just regurgitated my investigation :lol

As far as you knowledge and experience - keep on dreaming little man!

okay, back on topic

Well in summary we have the following....

1) We KNOW that there was a concern that there simply werent enough Stormtroopers to fulfil some of the scenes

2) We KNOW that some additional armour parts were cast and vac-formed, after filming had started. Sometime after June '79

3) We KNOW there was at least one "ESB Type 2" suit seen at the premiere May 1980. Have any more been seen?

So what we dont know is whether these were just a few random parts or almost effectively a complete suit. The interesting thing here is that this new suit isnt a complete set - its a combination of ANH and the "ESB Type 2"

Since the only time they would have needed this/these mismatched Troopers would have been the scenes where you see 9/10 troopers on set at a time (e.g. Bespin escape), the ONLY way were going to be able to prove this either way will be via on-set photos taken at the time (if they exist)

My personal take on this is that given we know they made something, i'd be surprised if they didnt use it on-screen. Seems an odd waste of cash to me at a time was Lucas was being very careful with his money.

Either way people can make their own mind up. This new suit will be going up for sale in a few weeks so people will be able to make their own minds up. As soon as I'm given the go-ahead to post photos I will certainl d so

I am surprised you were allowed to "handle" whatever you wanted. That is not allowed, even for very senior LFL members! I saw many original trooper helmets there. Some in pretty bad shape. Others were recognizable from which movie they came from.

I actually just got back from the Ranch and was in the archives. You could spend all day in there just looking at the Vader helmets. Rules were different than what you describe. Not that it's incorrect, just sayin'.

EDIT: Nothing nefarious meant by my post. Just offered to help clear up any misunderstandings. Carry on folks...

All of you guys that have ever visited the archives, wow. That's a story I would never get tired of telling. I have learned much about the stormtrooper helmet, armor, etc. from the lot of you. Sooo Christies has the suit up now.Intersting find.It has the ANH right forearm,left bicep,right shin and belt but the rest ROTJ.It`s a pitty the helmet didnt make it.The pic of the owner in dressing up in 93 is cool if a little small and I wish they would let Jez show more of those pics.Plz,plz,plz Jez show us more.:darnkids

For "nothing nefarious" your post is essentially calling Gino and eFX liars who need to prove to you that an LFL licensed company had access to the archives in the way they have stated.

Considering that Gino's trip to the archives was with Brian Ono on behalf of eFx, I am not sure why your blessing or verification is needed just because you weren't afforded the same level of access/ privelages they were given due to eFX's license.
