I'm no expert, but something about that helmet doesn't quite look "original". Something about the the frown, and the fact that it looks almost brand new. Who knows...

It does look like some made it new again...

I cant believe this was "restored" this poorly. :sick

Would be still cool to have and of course now wouldnt be a big deal to ACTUALLY restore it to its original ESB condition.

But IMHO they really devalued it. Not to say it wont fetch a rediculous price, but I know Im not alone in saying that for that much money I would rather it had not been touched.

Addint the repro ears is one thing... Or having it faithfully touched up and restored (Like something Tom Spina would do with an ewok or ugnaught) without losing its original look and feel. But this... :confused Why?

I would've rather had the non-restored helmet rather than someones interpretation of what it looked like.

some actors kid prolly kicked it around like a soccer ball and hit it with waffle bats until the seller all these years later noticed he could cash in, and patched what was chipped and broke and did a repaint. Ignorance is bliss.....

I've seen this piece in person, and it's quite nice.
The restoration is very professional.
Probably. But a restoration kinda requires that it is restored to its proper look... and they even failed with that, as they chose ANH colors rather than ESB. For that alone it is a faulty restoration. Though... to be truthful... it was restored to an even worse look previously... this current look is more accurate... but still far from how it should be.

I hate this.Bottom line is unless you are talking stabilisation from decay,in which a certain level of restoration is necessary, then leave the piece the hell alone.Every step taken away from original production condition is undesirable.

I totally agree Niall.

The irony is that this needs doing again properly, which would make it the third time!

Here's some more pictures I posted on TPZ:

I got some more pics and info from Profiles.

I wonder if the foam liner is anything near what was there originally. I know the other ESB helmet had a petal liner.

Profiles have confirmed that both ear pieces are replicas. They also stated that the helmet was 'restored' in the UK and then sent to Michael Moore of H.H.S. Props to be used as the master to created the Master Replicas Stormtrooper helmet.

It was my understanding that the ESB helmets were all from ANH, so wouldn't a restoration to ANH colors/pattern be considered an accurate restoration? I agree it was done poorly and should be billed as an ANH helmet instead...

This one was in ANH and ESB so that is a fair point, ANH would be accurate....

Okay, I didn't think of that... you are correct. Restoring it to ANH would technically be just as correct... :)
