Hey all, I'm just getting into building this kind of stuff. i used to build and race RC (and real) cars, but an illness has forced me to scale back quite a bit. So, I decided to build something that looks kind of like a detonator that's been around the block.

Any thoughts?

Looks pretty sweet! How hard would it be to add a "ready to fire" light that's hooked up to a 555 timer and a random number generator so that it flickers randomly, like the contacts are bad? :lol

I'm kidding, great job on the weathering. I truly envy people who can make something look used like that.

I love this. Styrafoam cooler by chance?

Thanks. I wish I could build a death ray out of MDF.

I can make the lights flicker, but it will have to wait. I owe my wife an 8" robot sculpture that will fit in a small birdcage.

RE: A madscientist: Nope. Black plastic 3"x4"project box, metal (rust) paint, Scotchbrite pad and a small torch. (And patience. I don't have any feeling in my hands, so burns are a hazard!)

Each person has their strengths, and the willingness to share tips and tricks is what makes RPF so great!

Nice job, I'll be looking forward to seeing that robot sculpture.

nice job on that little one!

and really well done weathering...it's always a work of patience but my favorite part of a build personally.
