Original design and classic batman

Haven’t posted in a while, so I figured I would show you guys what I’ve been up to. I decided earlier in the year to start on a Batman, which quickly became two Batmen (an original design and a classic design).

Here is the first, the original design. I wanted something that looked similar to the post-Arkham City suit from the intro of Arkham Knight mixed with more organic leathery features.
Here is the model I had made by my friend Ben who I am not sure if he is on here or not.

The last two pieces are actually the knee pads. Yes, they’re little bat heads! I will be printing it all and doing some other details before casting them in a dense urethane, such as adding a leather vinyl wrap on top of all the torso pieces (except the chest and shoulders which will have a different texture.
As for chest emblem, I went for TigerStoneFx’s “The Knight” emblem.

I weathered it and painted the gold trim around it.
The fabric you see below it is from parallel life studios and will be used for the base of the undersuit. I’ve ordered more of it for the classic style suit, and a few other yards of some hexagon and ribbed fabric from parallel life studios as well for smaller detailed spots.
The boots and gauntlets are full leather and from Napiers inc. Not too happy with the way the fins look on the guantlets, and I want to replace them with longer thin ones.

the belt buckle I had modeled by Ben as well to match the chest emblem I picked. Along with some batarangs.

when I get home in the next two weeks, I’ll update it with pics of the cape and belts.

Small updates. Here’s some pics of the belt from Gearbox leather that I will be using for my classic. This one was weathered by me with my airbrush, some oils, and a sanding sponge.

The belt buckle for my original design has also been printed... don’t pay attention to the lines on the inside of the print, it still needs a TON more sanding and filling.

Alright, so for my classic suit, I still want to be able to use both belts, my batarangs, and my buckle. So what I decided to do was have Ben base it off of the emblem that Tigerstone did for their “the knight” so my suit based off their emblem and cowl will look like an armored version of my classic.
I will be picking up the tigerstonefx classic cowl to wear with it sometime after it’s released, but I still want to be able to switch to my Reevz and Hernandez cowls as well.

I also want to add that because I based the emblem for my classic suit off of the one tigerstone did for “the knight”. The classic emblem, belt buckle, and the batarangs will NOT be available for anyone other than me. Even though it is brand new work and not “recasting” I do not feel comfortable putting anything on the market with an emblem attached that I did not create. I also plan to (once everything is one) send Tigerstone a copy of the batarangs, belt buckle, and emblem so that they and I can be the only two people to actually have them.

As for my belts, I have a few ideas. Here's what I've got so far... I have two belts from gearbox that I have weathered with oils, acrylics, and weathering powders.
I'm thinking of maybe getting some other pouches for these guys, like some handcuff pouches (with handcuffs of course) and then a flashlight holster. Since I can swap out all the pouches it's easy enough. I'm thinking of maybe purchasing the stock ones I have shown.

Nothing crazy, but a small update. Emblem has now been printed and is ready for molding. I also want to add that I spoke with Tigerstone directly after ordering their newest cowl to wear with my costumes (the classic comic cowl) and they said they were okay with me making this emblem for my costume, but they asked just not to sell/give copies of it (which the plan was always to never let anyone other than myself or them have a copy of it to begin with) so we're still good to go!

It's going to need a lot of sanding... some of the "dents" came out a little odd looking, but that's an easy thing to resolve with some elbow grease and filler primer.

Obviously, don't pay attention to those Christmas candy colors.... BUT, most of the armor is printed by my friend Maxi. Once it get's here, the cleanup will begin before molding.

As Halloween approaches and I'm working on 100 projects at a time, I think my original design Batman is going to be ready to roam the streets come October 31st!

Here's a preview... still a good bit to do but making progress every day.
