Opinions on Wizard of Oz remake

Thanx mate.. Trying to get it closer to the novel.. Would love to use that cast too.. Which means no Johnny Depp.. :lol

Wicked witch wouldn't control the story like the Original movie.. She won't come into it til towards the end.. And yes, the Scarecrow will have a Jeepers Creepers liking.. :love Dorothy will be younger, like in my trailer, not older as the Original..

DOn't forget...The witch has only one eye!

BILL MURRAY as the ScareCrow!

To be honest, WHY must we ever remake ANYTHING?
Why have we lost creativity in our world.

The music industry and true artists have never stuck to
remakes, they always strive "in most cases" excellence and for goodness sakes at least try to be different, good or bad.

With all the screenplays and works out there, and well done original pieces, remember this crazy idea years ago called "star wars", it changed a culture for years thru today.

I see artist who consistantly re-create them selves. I think the pros DO NOT remake, they create.

DO NOT TOUCH OZ!
I agree with mic davis... There were many books by baum that continued the story. go there IF you must.

Sorry, but look at the crap the remake of Dat the earth stood still, UGH!
and WAR of the WORLDS!

The thing is - There's never been a modern cinematic version of Oz... So I think it SHOULD be (re)made.
Done properly, it could be a massive franchise.

The remakes I like are the ones who stick close to an original story or book if the original did not.

The Wizard of Oz is a very different movie from the book and I think something done closer to the book would be pretty enjoyable, depending on who did it. They treated the original like a theater production, so they had to leave a lot out. Now if they wanted to just redo the movie..no thanks.

Same thing with the Dracula and Frankenstein movies. The originals are not even close to the books. As much as I love the originals, I also like having the book versions too.

There has; and it ruled:

List of remakes that were actually good -

Wizard of Oz
Ben Hurr
The Ten Commandments
The Maltese Falcon
The Magnificent Seven
Tarzan
Dracula
Frankenstein
a Christmas carol
Lord of the Rings
The Thing
Heat
The Departed
The Fly

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

The second sequel to a remake.

And it don't get better than that.
