One of the stupidest thing's Disney did with TRON.....

There were some scenes in the 'Tron world' that were not in 3-d. I kept taking the glasses off to see. lol! To me, it just made things darker. I was hoping for the whole light up the grid thing like at the end of the original Tron. It is all about $$$ and if I had the choice, which I didn't this time, I would have seen it in 2-d and gotten just as much out of it.

The Green Hornet movie talking about 'art'? He mugs in every scene and wears a freakin diaper!!!

The reviewer was not referring to Rogen but to 3D movies in general. I thought it was kind of a funny statement to make in a review of the Green Hornet myself but I do agree with the comments about the 3D. It's a gimmick and always has been.

I think the 3D in Legacy ads more to its story and structure than most other films I've seen in 3D. Starting in 2D and making the transition into 3D when Sam is transported to the Grid was an effective, legitimate use of the technology.

+1

I normally stay away from 3D, but for Tron I could see where it could be cool. In the end I didn't find it detract at all but also didn't contribute all that much either.

I'd like to see it die, because mostly, it's abused.

Hey, I'll give 'em credit for incorporating stereo into the experience. Like they did with colour in The Wizard of Oz; or 'scope, in Galaxy Quest.

As to the darker comment, can I assume you saw it in Read-D and not IMAX? There's a rampant craze of theaters not adjusting their Read-D projectors to the proper luminance.

And as for the accusation of Grid sequences that aren't in 3D, it is simply not true. I've heard this before, but each and every sequence has at least a subtle depth. How would you like it if every single scene was shooting out at you? I prefer 3D that doesn't breach the proscenium.

It seems like a damned if you do, damned if you don't scenario. Have 3D that extends beyond the screen, and they call it gimmicky. (Sure, it often is.) But refrain from that, and it's accused of not being in 3D at all.

Another movie that I thought had great use of 3D was Pixar's UP. They know how to do 3D. The depth of the picture expanded as his journey progressed. Really breathtaking stuff.

But I understand ... there's a LOT of 3D crap being thrown out. I just don't think it's enough to condemn the entire process. (Really, almost every trailer they played before the IMAX Tron presentation had questionable 3D.)

I completely forgot about the Galaxy Quest scope change. Great example! (I'm going to use that.)
