If you've studied the Vader costumes at exhibitions you will have noticed that with most of them the robe fabric is different to the cape fabric. The cape fabric is usually what appears to be a 'fuzzy' wool crepe, and the robe fabric looks more like a neat wool twill which has a distinctive diagonal weave pattern.

Does anyone know enough about the screen used ESB capes and robes? Were the robes made from the same fabric as the capes?

Both are wool however different styles are used. Crepe for the cape and the twill for the inner robe. The inner robe fabric style is more like a material used for casual pants.

Scott, was this the case in ESB? From the photos I have, I think that the robe is made from the same wool crepe as the cape but I want to be sure.

Im almost certain but I can guarantee it. Ive researched the ESB the most being I have that completed version. GINO would be the one to ask that question to. He has done alot of research on that item as well. If you hear from him, let me know what he says.
