Ok who sniped me!!

What did you get sniped by, a dollar?

I hate it when that happens!

That would be the normal, just the next bid increment after your max... And it doesn't mean their snipe wasn't for $1000 more then you bid you just never know...

And from the looks of it you got sniped by a photo equipment collector not a prop collector, based on their 30 day bid history...

Sorry, I love it when people get sniped.

If you REALLY wanted it, you'd have bid more.

Don't blame the sniper just 'cause he was smarter than you.

Considering you placed your bid 5 seconds before him.....weren't you also sniping, and just bid less?

In the last 8 seconds of the auction, three new bidders showed up and all tried to win the thing. To me, that's normal. It's the people spending the previous three days bidding over and over that are stupid. Like you can actually win it for $25, $28, $33, and so on.

Yeah it's like crying when the last minute Hail Mary shot lands in a sporting even...

Ebay rules are pretty simple highest bid placed before the buzzer wins... It doesn't matter who was first or who was sitting king of the hill for the run of the auction, it boils down to the simple rule "highest bidder wins" that's the rule...

Ah, photo equipment collector...

I went on that Graflex afficionado site once, and it was scary. Some of those people are as crazy as some of us! :lol I've heard of some actually going out of their way to outbid Star Wars fans for Graflex flashes (sometimes paying a lot more than the item's worth. They justify it by saying that at least they're keeping it out of the hands of the likes of us), and also sometimes purchasing our converted-to-lightsaber-already flashes in hopes of rescuing them from their terrible fate as a prop replica :lol

But in regards to the whole sniping thing, bidding your definite maximum amount is always the safest thing to do. Plus, if you do get sniped, you don't feel as bad, as the price they pay is more than the most you'd pay for the thing.

Well thats just how I bid, watch the item for a few days and then bid with a few seconds left(I don't have real sniping stuff).

Most people just use sniping software these days, as others said bid what you're willing to spend that way you don't feel like the thing was snatched from you because it sold for more than you were willing to pay anyway.

Speaking of sniping.... what is everyone using?

I've been using Auction Sentry and, as far as I know, its the only dependable game in town.

Sniping is legal.. ..right? it's not like a hack or something?

Yep, it's fully within the rules...

Someone outbid me at the last minute. Placing a high bid in the closing seconds of an auction-style listing is called “sniping” within the eBay community. Sniping is part of the eBay experience, and all bids placed before a listing ends are valid, even if they're placed one second before the listing ends. Learn how to avoid being outbid.

Regardless of the fact that I'm into props, that is the most appalling thing I have heard today. Those are some miserable human beings.
