Matt,
Serious question, because you seem like a smart guy:
Why do you believe it torpedoes a thread to get to the truth about who has known of Guy's involvement in a board project? Wouldn't you want the truth to come out, no matter where it leads, and let the chips fall where they may?
.
I'm happy to answer, even though it looks like this has been worked out. Or it's a "mute" point as so many folks like to say
It was not the search for the truth that I believe acts as a torpedo to the thread. I'm ALL for that. it's the off beat quoting of Apocalypse Now that detracts from the seriousness of the thread. I think it puts people in a position where they'd rather see the thread locked down due to its newfound lack of purpose than see it struggle to get its legs back.
Or are you just grinding an axe because Raz threatened to beat you up?
Nah, I don't really feel like i'm grinding an axe, but that's just my take on it. maybe others can interpret my actions better than I can. I think that certainly holds true for Raz. And don't get me wrong, the whole "lets meet in a parking lot to brawl" thing was really more symptomatic of the last round of melt-downs, not really something I took personally. A caged rat might act strangely, but a cornered caged rat is irrational.
I actually did a search of the OT recently to try to dig up that thread where he melted down and challenged me to a duel. A great read for those who have not seen it, and worthy or review for those who did. In case anyone starts to suffer from the memory depriving effects often associated with the passage of time, I'm confident that a re-read of that final thread will get you back on board with the purpose behind this thread, which is to help keep us ever vigilant.
The Apocalypse Now dialogue, sincerely, is just to lighten the mood. I mean, we can have a witch hunt and still keep things interesting, can't we?
Well, I can certainly be accused of misjudging someones motivations. I'm willing to accept that this was your motivation, but I certainly don't think your actions achieved the result you were hoping for.
Bonus points for those being the last words you get to type prior to banning

Still, I think it was the Kurgan who said "It's better to burn out than to fade away".
Pretty sure someone else said it, but Clancy Brown is such a great actor!
