Oh, you Star Trek guys have it made...

Star Trek fans do have a lot to choose from. But, how many have scratchbuilt their own phaser? We ALIEN/ALIENS fans do a lot of scratchbuilding. And I can honestly say my M41-A Pulse Rifle is bigger than your dustbusters, cobras, dolphins and crickets!(this ST or a pet shop? LOL):love

I will put my Breen rifle size wize up to your M41-1. I try to collect it all ST to Logans run, and just got my Forbidden Planet rifle in from Nicks Dad. Great prop I might add. As to size for rifles, the Klingon sniper rifle is the longest at close to 4 foot long. For sheer size, my Space Above and Beyond rifle is very heavy.

For me if I like it I buy it...Kev

As has been said here, Star Trek and Star Wars fans are really ahead of the curve when it comes to props. :lol

There's a million obscure shows and films to be a fan of that have almost nothing when it comes down to something as basic as reference.

You spoiled media fans. Hundreds and hundreds of products to choose at every conceivable price point.

Try being a Lovecraft fan. Other than some statues of the dread elder gods, most of which are absolutely craptacular, we got nothin'. Why, we have to slave away with our own hands to make anything decent, not like you kids today with your Master Replicas and Noble Collection and all that. When I was your age I was drawing a pint of blood a week just so I could finish my Necronomicon replica. And I was happy!

Okay, maybe isn't wasn't my own blood that I was drawing, but it was still hard. :lol

Durn KIDS nowdays! Why, when I was a boy, if we wanted a phaser to play with, we'd make em' out of Tinker-Toys! And if we wanted a Star Trek uniform, we had to stick a paper cutout of a Star Fleet insignia on a tee-shirt with scotch tape! And we LIKED it that way!:lol

Seriously, we Trek and SW fans do kind of have it made, but it was a long time coming. How many years was Trek off the air before decent props at decent prices came out? And while the Star Wars props came sooner, they still were (and are) out of the price range of most fans. Believe it or not, your average Star Wars fan can not afford to spend 300 bucks plus on a lightsaber prop!

P.S. That whole tinker-toy and cutout insignia thing... My friends and I really did that as kids!

P.P.S. Regarding a post much earlier in this thread... Is it POSSIBLE for there to be a thread ANYWHERE on this forum with the words "Star Trek" in the title where someone DOESN'T complain about a new movie which none of us have seen and won't be released for another three months?!

No licensed Star Trek uniform shirt has ever been close to being quality. It's sad, becasue the design is really quite simple. There must be some kind of rule against selling accurate replicas of the uniform shirts because there is no logical excuse as to why the licensed shirts are so crappy.
