Re: Officially Licensed TRON LEGACY - Movie Replica Suits. UPDATED Video Posted 6/25
David...
I'm starting to run out of cash with all of the fantastic stuff you create!
I'm not even a Tron fan but this is incredible! I HAVE to see the full thing. Your talent is legendary and you aren't resting on your laurels! Bravo!
I have a quick question for you; Have you ever had a property that you're recreating and said to yourself, "You know, I could actually improve on this original design" or "I can make this a LOT better"? Just wondering what goes through the mind of a genius like you.
Thanks for the vote of confidence, and your words certainly make me feel like we're doing something right. :thumbsup
The kind of product we specialize in is basically form molded leather with end use products being real world, usable leather outerwear or motorcycle wear.
Design wise, no. I wouldn't even dream of attempting to improve on a design. A lot of the 'movie suits' have a unique look and style that just works 'as is' and honestly.....it's just difficult enough trying to get leather to look like something that was originally rubber (or other material) on screen.
While design wise I tend to tip my hat to the creators, function wise we really do our best to make them functional for real world uses such as motorcycle wear.
Our suits aren't costumes so we have a million other rules and standards to follow but I am proud to say that our suits are rugged, strong and of the highest quality I personally can manage. Again, they're not costumes but we really have to work hard to make them look like the given character as he was seen on screen wearing that costume.
So ultimately...design wise I just really try to get them to look like the suits as they were seen on screen. Function wise, that's where we try to really bring it home. Movie suits have all sorts of costume handlers and a zillion copies of each one as they get damaged during filming. We dont have that luxury so ours have to be built to last.
The TDK Batman motorcycle suit catered perfectly to our style of motorcycle wear....Wolverine was another one....Iron Man was very difficult but I couldnt be happier with how it's turned out, and wait until you see it in black/silver...
Tron Legacy....well in my opinion these suit designs could not be better suited for our kind of product base. I'm really eager to debut our Sam and Quorra suits at SDCC.
I hope that all made sense...

Thanks again for the cool post. I know our goods aren't for everyone but we do try to make good quality items with the source material as the main visual focus each and every time.
Hope to see you all at SDCC next week!
