Officially Licensed TRON LEGACY - RINZLER, Sam & TRON Movie Replica Suits.

BOSS , i think a good rule of thumb is to get the size bigger so u can wear it in the winter months without any issue (ie freezing to death )
...better to be safe than sorry i think .

i dont plan to wear HEAVY clothing under the suit...
since ill only be using it for nite riding & hitting the local cons to sport the suit...
in which case, i wanted the suit as skin tight as possible...
...so ill wear "skin tight thermal" for the winter months if needed

but to ADD a "extra layer of protection" to the suit...
i also plan to order myself a Dainese Norsorex Vest for underneth the jacket.
because unlike TDK suits with "armor re-inforcement" in the chest/adbornal & kidney areas
there is NONE for the Sam Flynn :( so this ADD vest solves that issue...
not to meantion...it will look as if its part of the suit, by its design style with the Hexs
{pix below}

All i need now...is to FIND myself a pair of matching boots! lol
...that is both "comfortable" and styles the look all around.

I just picked up a pair of Sidi Vertebra Air boots and in my opinion, they would work well
with a Tron suit. Sidi offers replacement plastics for the boots as well, so you could pick up a set and remove all the manufacturer logos pretty easy.

I'm looking forward to getting my second Sam Flynn suit later this month when deliveries go out!

Then I will set about ordering yet another set of pants, maybe two if I want Sam and Tron.

Literally just now got my Sam Flynn suit delivered to my front door..wooo..! Now to go an open the box!

Edit:
Woooooowwwwwwww, this suit is fantastic! pics to follow soon.

Just wear it, really. The more you move around in it, the more it will fit to your movements and soften up the leather. I wear mine around the house with the A/C set a little colder ahha

You really do feel "armored" when you are in UD gear!

i was "wondering" the SAME thing....so i did some research!
By the looks of it, there is ALOT of different techinques out there...

Just to name a few, most recommend "mink oil" to soften it.
The only ISSUE with that, it seems to DARKEN the leather!
So if the leather is already Black, there shouldnt be any difference...
...at less thats what THEY say, i wouldnt know personally.

Next on the list, would be "the dryer" technigue...
Grap a pillow case, stuff the leather jacket in it & toss into the dryer!
Just remember NO HEAT! all u want is the dryer to spin!
Now add some balls into the dryer, whatever u got laying around the house
this includes = baseballs, softballs, tennisballs, footballs and etc....
just be perpared for some ANNOYING sounds for a FEW hours,
but it beats ether "parking ur car on it" or having kids play KICK the pillow case!

I would NOT do that ball dyer technique you will damage the light strips and the clear plastic.

And LAST...as Bandit-Jedi says "just wear it" is recommended

Thou i did see a POSTING over at the...
UD Replicas - Universal Designs Motorcycle Suit Trading
By Josh McLachlan recommending this technique...If your willing?
With leather, best thing for fast stretch fit, is to wet or soak in water (distilled if possible)
then wear and move around, walk even, until its dry then remove and repeat if you wish.

0_o" my only ISSUE i have with this technique...
...is watching the episode with Ross getting STUCK in his leather pants!
so i DONT recomment "powder or lotion" if u cant get the pants on or off! lol
Friends - Ross Leather Pants - YouTube

Other then that...u can go to FILMJACKETS.COM • Index page for MORE suggestions

Truthfully, Megatron might be right...
because THIS technique is used for "normal" leather jackets....
so there is a CHANCE the "light strips" can get DAMAGED in the process!
But u gotta admit...its a BETTER technique, then running the jacket over with the car! lol

As for oils go, i found some MORE suggestions...
Rather then using "mink oil" which darkens leather,
u could use 100% pure neatsfoot oil, linseed oil, saddle oil, or leather conditioner.

They recommend moving the sponge in circular motions all over the leather jacket...
massaging the oil or conditioner deeply into the hardened fabric.
Concentrate on rough and hardened areas like the elbows and outer edges.
Add a few more drops of the oil or leather conditioner as needed.
Allow the jacket to air out for "2 to 3 days" before wearing it.
Hang it in an airy closet or on a chair where it can breathe.

One thing that I would be concerned about using product would be losing some of the molded leather detail. David would be the one to give the best recommendation, but I keep thinking that the process used to make the molded leather is one of the reasons why the leather is so stiff. So softening the leather might lead to detail loss. Which is only a thought and totally unfounded.
Hopefully David will chime in.

I knew I should have asked him more about care of the items when I was hanging with him at CVI. Haha

David are you going to make a Dredd suit..oh pleaze say yes..

David answered this on the UD Facebook page.

Your requests are not going unheard, and I am absolutely not ignoring you. The reality is this...
We currently have Batman, Star Wars, Tron Legacy...Have yet to unleash our GI JOE goods, have signed with the Transformers franchise and also My Little Pony for children and teen wear...are in talks for RoboCop and are heavily interested in expanding our Warner Bros. product line. As such, the reality is we've already got a LOT on our plate and have expanded heavily in the 2012 year....including doubling up on our warehouse and office space....as well as adding new staff just to help with our email response times, who I will be personally training.

Dredd is an outstanding character and the designs of this new film are PERFECT for what we do and the type of product we manufacture.
Yes, I'm interested in seeing if and how this franchise can be added to our current product line...but for the time being, there is NOTHING OFFICIAL other than my personal view on this outstanding new film/franchise.

Moving forward IF Dredd can be added, again... 'if' this becomes a reality then I personally would dedicate all of our resources to ensuring incredibly accurate and visually stunning Licensed Movie Replica Motorcycle suits for the Dredd franchise... and I hope that our current track record does in fact demonstrate that quality is our number one priority across all of our product lines.

So yes, I am listening...however time will tell if something 'official' can become a UD Replicas product reality for Dredd.

i HEAR ya bro ;) in NO way am i telling ppl to DO this stuff...
these are just "suggestive techniques" which i came across the net...
so u can take them or leave them...ur choose ;)

But i "understand" where ur coming from with "losing details" to the suit...
personally, "if" i plan to go THIS rounte with oils, ill simply soften up the joint areas
like around the neck, sholders, elbows and knee areas...to help mobility
other then that, i might do the dryer techinque..

I've been meaning to take some decent pics of everything again, but haven't yet. A friend did manage to snag this one which isn't bad:

Fantastic Pics sfischer!

Your Modded discs combined with the UD suit make it look all too like you leaped off the big screen. I can almost hear the Rinzler "purr"

Also, What size pants are those you have? Small or Medium? Plus what are your measurements that you used for sizing? Just asking because I'm looking at adding the Rinzler "TRON" pants to my collection and i'm prolly going to go with Medium or Small as both are very close to my measurements. I already have the Sam Flynn pants in Large and will be ordering those in Small to wear for costuming only as I want a skin tight fit like my XS Sam Flynn Jacket.(I wear without armor installed)

So far what I have is this:
Sam Flynn
-Jacket (XS)
-Jacket (M)
-Pants (L)
-Boots (M)

TRON

-Jacket (M)
-Gloves (M)

I'm addicted! I want the ability to wear a set for costuming and have a set for comfort/riding

I have talked with David and he said that I could get away with a Medium pant for the Sam Flynn suit so we shall see.

I'll prolly end up getting a suit in every size if David keeps the Tron Line going hahahahah

The measurements I sent in:
Below are the measurements I took (without adjustments)
Chest size: 35.5"
Waist size: 33"
back length: 22"
shoulder width: 19"
sleeve length: 23.5"
hips: 37"
inseam: 30"
wrist: 8.5"
foot length: 11"
foot width: 10"
foot top cuff: 15"

I ended up with:
Jacket Size S
Pant Size S
Glove Size M
Boot Size US-10 / EU-44

I've worn the stuff out several times this month. I can't say that I recommend this suit for riding. The molded leather is just too restrictive. All of the pieces I have (except the boots) are big for me, yet it still is very limiting to how I can fit on my bike, even with the armor removed.

If I were to do it again, I would get a smaller Jacket, Pants, and Glove and just wear it for costuming. I've been on the fence to buy a smaller suit and maybe see if I can sell what I have. The pants taper in quite a bit towards the feet, so getting them off will be fun if you go with the smaller size. The material is quite stretchy, it'll be skin tight around your calfs.

My discs and Rinzler helmet didn't fare too well from the cold and the vibrations from the bike either. I have my work cut up for me to get it in top shape again. It's passable but the imperfections bother me a lot.

The hard molded sections of my suit are showing wear on the back side, from sitting and riding the bike. Considering how few occasions I've worn the suit (but for extended periods of time), it is a bit concerning. The spots that are wearing have a blueish tint to them, which makes them more noticeable to me. I'm going to try and clean it up and put some conditioner on it and will take some pics how that turns out.

Also, the top of the pants has a lot of stretchy material, especially near the waist and groin. I think I could smuggle a bag of chips down the front of my pants. One of the biggest reason I'd like a smaller size. Too much excess material. It also makes the 'codpiece' a bit awkward.
