Official Ghostbusters PKE Meter Prop

I've managed to get as much info stored on MattyCollector.com as possible without ordering anything, all I'll have to do when the time comes is put in the card details, on that note, are there any UK based Matty purchasers reading this who can tell me if the site accepts Visa debit cards or is it just straight-up credit cards? My mum is happy to let me use her Visa debit card but she is adamant she is not using the credit card and it's for emergencies only, like if the boiler breaks down or something.

Comparing this to the She-ra sale isn't really fair. None of the GB figs have sold out that quickly.

Awesome how the RPF can turn even the best of news into a hate filled rant thread. I love this place!

While I totally agree with you, to the point of me leaving the Off Topic forum for months, now, because of the hate, the complaints about Matty collector.com are true concerns of past shoppers.

Being the PKE guy, here, i can tell you $50.00 is a great price for a prop that is 89% accurate (body shell). This might be the first time I will, actually, shop from Matty Collector.com, and the obstacle challenge that is the ordering service is of my concern.

Should I buy something in advance, so I'm registered with the site and buy the PKE through express check-out?

Is this thing going to be some kind of limited run, or only sold for one day online?
I'm jut wondering why everyone is worried about this being sold out?

(sorry, I'm not familiar with mattels previous order process)

DS

Yes, it will be limited, just like their other GB collectibles. You will NOT find it at Walmart, stocked up like the Iron Man 2 toys collecting dust.

Just a quick thought for the community - if there's a few of us here who want them, and you can have up to 10 in your cart, couldn't we have some kind of 'buddy system'? So me and someone else who's going to try and order the second they come out could both order two, and if one of us misses out, the other can give up their spare.

Hmmm Looks like, well a Toy to me, but I'm sure many will be happy with it.

Don't have to. Put something in your cart (for example a Club subscription), fill out your billing information and since you are registering a new account, your email and password. Progress to the billing screen, but don't put in your card details or anything. Remove the item from your cart. Your account is now registered so in future when you put an item in your cart and go to checkout, it will fill in those details and all you have to do is put in your card details

Matty also usually does second runs. So, if you don't get in on this run, they might make more in a year or so. Unless you are a MIB collector and have to have a first edition box, a little patience could be all you need.

The reason they do the "10 per person" thing is so groups can get together and save on shipping, especially for overseas shipping. But yeah, from what I see on Ebay, scalpers take advantage of this high limit.

Role-play toys and prop replicas, especially something of this quality and detail, usually do better than action figures. For example, DST's Star Trek role-play and ship lines literally do 30 times better than their figures. Most adults are not inclined to buy action figures, but something that can be displayed as a replica or model is easier for grown-ups to have out without their peers making fun of them.

The problem I have with it, though, it's pretty damn expensive. Less than $40, I'd be more than happy to add it to my small collection. I'm more than likely to buy it at a discount in a clearance isle at the price they're asking than I am to buy it straight out. Yes, I know, "It's quality" you're paying for... But still, for $60 is too much, even for something made by a toy company.

Now THIS is a great idea...I would say that it would be safe for each of us here to order 3 or 4 -- surely there is someone on RPF who will miss out and would be THANKFUL to pay the retail tag for it plus any extra shipping as it would go first to buyer and then have to be reshipped.

I'm in on this...in fact, I'll order up to FIVE...and I bet I could easily sell off four to fellow RPFers at cost plus the additional shipping...and if not, I would even be willing to sell them AT COST on ebay, just to **** off the scalpers.

Whoever said they were gonna order TEN to scalp on ebay, shame on you. If that's what you are really going to do, do you REALLY think it's nice to come out and say that in THIS forum when so many of us just want to get one at regular retail? I mean, come on...have you NOT been reading the Matty rants? I can't change WHAT you buy and how much you mark it up to resell, but do you REALLY have to come out and say it in this forum? Geeeesh.

It is my understanding that this will NOT be sold i stores, and therefore, I doubt you will ever find it in a clearance isle of a retail store.

Okay, it's not going to be sold in stores, but you missed my over all point: The price is too frakkin' much.

I got to handle this today. Turns out the one in the case is an early prototype and the production version is sharper. The one I held did NOT feel or look toy-like as I stated above, when I had only seen the one in the case.

Easily worth the $50. They also said this was NOT a limited edition so there should be no problem getting them.

Plain and simple, you're in the wrong hobby.

You simply stated it was too expensive. To expensive for you is a whole different thing.

It's a steal at $50, I told them they should make it $100 and I'd still pay twice that.

Perhaps your judgement call should be reserved for if you ever see one.

50 is too much? I can't imagine WHAT would be considered affordable. This thing looks great for starters. I, for one, have not been collecting long enough to have built my own GB gear.

Y'know, ultimately a thing is only worth to you what you are willing to pay for it. While I would love to have had a $500 Tricorder for my last Halloween costume, the $50 DST Tricorder did just fine for me. It's still fun to play with and fairly reasonable for what it does. And I can mod it as needed with leather strap, improved light diffusion on the screen, etc., etc. Same thing with the PKE meter -- for what it looks like, what it does, and how I will be using it, I think $50-60 is superb. Luckily I have stable finances and a lovely wife who understands that I do not drink, smoke, gamble or otherwise carouse; props and toys are my vices and she is tolerant of them, within limits. (The Green Lantern Power Battery prop is still a point of some contention in our household, for example. ;) ) But if you find the $50 too expensive, vote with your feet and your wallet and walk away with your money in your pocket.
