OFFICIAL ESB/ROTJ yoda RESEARCH THREAD

I've been presently trying to build a a body using the 1" foam. I used the inner robe made by Gino as a basis to get the correct back slope, shoulders, neck, and arm length. Right now I'm stumped on how long to make the torso and what the diameter of the torso should be. The leg measurements are giving me a hard time as with what I got now he has real short legs. The dimensions have to balance out and be aesthetically pleasing. Yoda is 28" from bottom of feet to top of head , right?:confused Anyone have measurements that could prove useful or even pattern sources?

Theres been some comments on the eyes being larger than 30mm... I didn't decide on this size myself, when getting the Cantor + Nissel eyes made. It was something I was pointed towards by both Nick and Lesley who worked on the original puppets. My belief is that the above exhibition prop had larger eyes. :eek

I also believe that Freeborn sculpted the head using normal human sized eyes and a lot of the character of the sculpt, itself was modified as the foam skins were mounted over the animatronic frames of the puppets.... particularlly around the eye area.

These exhibition versions are probably truer to Freeborns sculpts albeit with larger eyes and the puppets used in ESB looked considerably different in feel and character. My next sculpt will more reflect the feel of the film puppets ;)

Wasnt Deep Roy (Willy Wonka) wearing the costume in ESB?

Was reading through this thread when it was referenced today. This is correct, Deep Roy was in the Yoda costume. He happened to be a guest at a show we produced here a couple weeks ago in Dallas.
