Not really an in depth answer but my grandma has some white hose very similar that. It belongs to her central vac system so maybe search in some of those?

Funny you should mention your grandma. My grandmother had some sort of hair dryer with clear hose very similar to that pictured. It was approx 11/2 inch or so in diameter from what I can remember.

Well, let's CSI this stuff!
1. What objects do we KNOW that Lucas used for donor parts? Chances are, it comes off something that other known parts come from.
2. It looks to be plastic, so it probably doesn't have a high-heat application, BUT it seems to have an internal wire coil, so pressure, probably negative, is probably involved.
3. We know, ILM used a lot of camera parts, aircraft parts, WWII weapons, dental equipment, computer junk, etc, so which of those items might require ribbed plastic hose that could handle a bit of pressure?

I would also start with a car heater system from the 60's or so, knowing the t-track on blaster was from british cars, I guess they might have had a local auto shop next to the workshop ;-)

Wire re-enforced PVC pipe, I guess the challenge is to find it in black with the correct "bend radius" to get the scalloping just right. I'd say we're looking for 1.75" or maybe 1.5" diameter.

Since it's a pilot helmet... wouldn't the first natural place to look be jetfighter helmets? For their air support system they have these long black hoses...

And since the TIE helmets were made in the UK, it'd be natural to assume that you are looking for British RAF flight helmet hoses.

Oxygen hose doesn't usually have internal reinforcing since it's for a pressurised system and needs to move very freely.
It is more likely a vacuum hose from something and since a lot of stuff was based on US gear(TIE and X-wing helmet shells,Rebel fleet trooper helmets) I certainly wouldn't make any assumptions about it's origins.

Haven't you kept up? The T-tracks were plastic tracks for drawers. There is an archived thread about it, and a recent one. They were most likely acquired from a certain local hardware store that is no more.
Recently, I have been looking in hardware stores after a hose for a X-wing pilot chest box but without any luck so far. The X-wing pilot hose looks much like this one, 1" in diameter, but is grey
My bet is that it was a "dishwasher hose" from a hardware store. The modern ones that I have found locally have not been close enough.
I think the real stuff is thin plastic over a metal coil. I have even seen similiar hoses used as part of respiratory equipment.

We've been discussing this on the TIE boards for years..I'm thinking that he said the originals were hair-dryer hose and so far that's the most accurate thing that I've found for my own, though mine were wht/clr and I painted them gloss black..
So find someone who was producing air-hoses for that industry in the 60's/early 70's in the UK and you'll have it..
You can find a substitute, I'm sure.. I have run across that stuff, but in a larger diameter....good luck..
