OdiWan72´s prop family

Just put the last few screws in it…wow, what a frustrating build this was

This blaster is massive!
Here it is in comparsion with a E11 and it‘s custom R1 style Rebel Alliance double barreled counterpart

View attachment 1488604View attachment 1488605

Won´t even start telling you guys what I do NOT like about this build...it has so many flaws, that I might address eventually. But I simply wanted to finish and put it away to make room for other projects.

Featuring:
- Real S&T Grip section
- Real S&T muzzle tips (leftovers from E11D builds)
- Aluminum barrels with real hand shaped track
- FM R1 power cylinders
- Real M38 scope
- Real -vintage- Hengstler counter
- Real taktical flashlight

The rest is a combination of printed (special thanks to Eelco from 3DPropsNL for some of the larger parts, that did not fit on my Mars) and scratchbuilt parts (where the printed stuff simply didn´t do it).

Enough whining...One more blaster done, "x" more to go *LOL*

will post some more glamorous pictures asap ;)

Thanks for looking!

Very cool builds, I wish I could have vintage parts blasters but then I would need to live on 2 minute noodles lol!!

Made a new noseguard for my Luke sandstorm goggles…the one that came with my vintage goggles was too short

Thanks again teecrooz for the template!

Some pics of today‘s work…another PITA project, that I put on the backburner for years!

That´s the final missing piece for my -UZI based- Supertrooper blaster, the darn sideplate.
I was lucky to find a few of the accurate vintage expanders used on this, but BOY...modifying them was hard (the metal parts are chromed STEEL).

CHeck out how tiny their components are...this fact in combination with my bad eyesight made it a lot of "fun" *LOL*

Glue is drying as I type. Will post pictures of it attached to the blaster asap :)

Disc was ghetto lathed on my drill-press, metal cast Glenross screw, real "alternative" expansion screws, real Casio MQ1 part.

And done!

I consider this to be the blaster counterpart to the Holiday Special lightsaber with regards to its "fugliness". *LOL*
Only took me 6 years to finish, since the sideplate was a PITA, that I simply did not want to do.

Lucky me had the chance to buy a sideplate from kurtyboy, that already had the tape detailing, so I "only" had to finish it with the parts you see in my previous post.

One down, numerous more blasters to do ;)

p.s.: just realized, that the small wire from the first expansion screw came off when I took these pics. Glued back in now

See this is one of those props that I have trouble with because it's easily identifiable as an UZI, but it's freaking cool!

T21 Sandtrooper heavy blaster rifle finished…for now

This started its life as a 3D printed kit, which I purchased MANY years ago from a guy in Switzerland.
It was the replacement for the hyperfirm rubber cast, that I was having for over a decade.

Kurtyboy started to accurize/ upgrade his rubber LG by adding a lot of machined and a few real LG parts. I was lucky to be part of that undertaking and got my hands on most of the upgrades. Some other parts were purchased from IMA or gunbroker...

Anyway...I never added these parts to my rubber LG, but put them on the 3D print instead (which is VERY close to the original).
The grips and shoulder stock were handcarved by me as a nice addition to the print.

One thing I could NEVER make a decision about was the ribbed tubing...
Looking at the few low res reference pictures, I am convinced that the prop dept. used some thick wire/ cable wrapped around the LG receiver and covered it with tape (just like we see it on the vibro axe). BUT after numerous, unsuccessful tries with this approach, I got frustrated and used a piece of ribbed drain-pipe I sourced many years ago. It´s got 16 instead of the correct 14 ribs, but once covered with silicone tape, it looks really nice and will function as a "place holder" until I ever find the time and motivation to redo it (maybe when I am retired *lol*).

So without further ado, here are some peaks at my "finished" blaster rifle.

One project done, a hundred more to go ;)

Amazing detail as we have come to expect.

Hot damn that's a good looking blaster! I only spot 3d print evidence on a couple parts, very nice work. Would love to know what's "real" and what's not. Really good finish on it too, amazing build of a not often seen blaster! Send it to me immediately.

Nice! The 3D print lines actually work really well on the barrel because they look like machining marks. I'm more shocked you don't already have a real Lewis gun! ;)

I had the chance to buy a deactivated LG about 18 years ago...haven´t seen a single one on the german market since then.
Could have imported one from the UK -back the days when this was still legal AND the UK was still part of the EU. But even then, a decent LG already cost about 8000-10.000 Euros

Nowadays our stupid gun laws make it pretty much impossible to get any kind of deac´d weapon and the Brexit of the UK makes it just another country, we have to pay massive import fees for if we buy stuff over there.

Pedro:
Don´t know the names of the few real parts I got for the T21...it´s the "gear" in front of the grip section, the long "lever" under the receiver and a few of Enfield parts, that I reused (brass disc, sling mount and screws). The rest of the upgrades are steel reproductions...

Sluis Van Shipyards:
Yeah, that´s why I kept them ;)
There are a few lines and bumps visible here and there, that I simply could not get rid off OR didn´t see them until the final paintjob was applied. But I think the weathered look ties it all together pretty well. Too bad that the decent rust effect doesn´t show in my pics...might take some new/ better ones.

Well I always see that they have a real one at the USAF Museum in a case with several other US WW2 aircraft weapons, including MG15 and ME262 guns, but I don't think they will part with them. That's the closest I've ever been to a real Lewis gun. I'm not sure how rare they are, but you would occasionally see deactivated machineguns at local gun shows, but I have never seen a Lewis. Usually it's Browning 30 cal machine guns or MG34/42.

Small update...

Had a bit of time to spend today and decided to tweak some blasters.

First is my interpretation of the MS Power 5, that I added 3D prints of the impossible to find vintage RS pushbuttons to. In addition to that, I modified the original Transcriptor knobs on the blasters left side to look more like what was used on the actual prop.

Next in line was my idealized SE14 Stormtrooper blaster.
I chose NOT to paint it in that boring satin black, but to give it a more realistic paintjob.
Also added the wires and the RS button to the magwell.

Will see what smaller tasks I can get done in the near future.
Thx for looking!

Gorgeous, especially the SE-14! I was excited when they were in R1, but it’s lame that they’re so ubiquitous now. Is that a Sean Morgan kit? What's the scoop with the rectangular marks on the right side of the SE-14, do those show up in some pics of the original?

The buttons look good on the Merr Sonn, nearly impossible to find real ones (my personal quest lol). Plus the damn DIN plug, which you have also got correct (of course!)
