Oblivion Airsoft Rifle and Pistol Build - Pics Fixed!

Re: Oblivion Airsoft Rifle Build (WIP - pic heavy)

Fantastic work!!! This is one of my long delayed projects as I too have a airsoft masada (its the one I bought & loaned to Mal for the project). I have two of the kits and planned to use one on the airsoft - is great that I now have reference :)

BTW, I meant to ask, do you know what the adjustment thing is on the airsoft? And will it be fine without it?

I believe, on the real gun, that is a gas adjustment to control the amount of back pressure. On an electric airsoft gun it should have no effect if it is removed.

Awesome, thanks. It did have an o-ring seal which made me think it was needed, but perhaps not. :)

Looks fantastic! any display ideas on the two?

Re: Oblivion Airsoft Rifle Build (WIP - pic heavy)

Flash hider looks great. As for the real one, yeah would need modded to thread onto airsoft barrel - I have not look at this yet, but given it will likely be a big pain, your probably best sticking with what you have done. The mag should fit fine, but does not "clip" into place, so you will either need to mod it to do so or stick it in place. A real one will have a slightly tighter fit, but again would need to be modded to fit the airsoft mag well.

Do you have any recommendations on the adhesives? and do you find its solid now?

It looks awesome - is motivating me to get on with building up mine

Yeah, I hear you on the flash hider. And it's just more $$$. Funny though how I'll get hung up on wanting to be as screen accurate as poss on some bits, but then not so fussed on others. Lol.

Mal has offered to whip me up a mag which is awesome! It's all that's needed to finish it.

For adhesive I used "Insta-cure+ Cyanoacrylate". It's made in the US so shouldn't be hard to find. Worked really well, dries super fast and holds strong. I use it on everything now (models, etc), especially resin. The rifle is very solid! Which is awesome.

Glad you like the build! If I can help and even inspire others than I am super stoked with that. :thumbsup

Thanks! Yeah, they are both going on the wall in the movie room above the door. It's a place that's been reserved for them for a while. They were going to go above the window but now Ziga's Angel of Verdun sword hangs there! Lol.

The plan was to hang Kevin's amazing Tech 49 jacket behind the door, so when the door was shut it would sit below the guns. But this won't work now as his jacket sits too far out from the door due to the silicon shoulder pads. So I'll have to come up with another plan.

Re: Oblivion Airsoft Rifle Build (WIP - pic heavy)

All done (except the mag). Might have gone a bit heavy on the weathering... I struggle to get that right! Lol.

Nice. I think the weathering looks terriffic.

Re: Oblivion Airsoft Rifle and Pistol Build - COMPLETE (pic heavy)

I wanted to point out too that the issues I had getting the kit to line up are more my failings than Mal's kit. The kit is awesome and I'm sure if I had started with the stock, then married up the center shells, and done the front last, then it would have all lined up nicely. So yeah, no reflection on Mal's kit. I just did it the wrong way around. :facepalm

Great stuff, the weathering looks very well done. I actually watched the movie the other night because of your build. Hahah great work:thumbsup

Re: Oblivion Airsoft Rifle Build (WIP - pic heavy)

Fabulous result.

Congratulations!

Thanks mate. Super stoked to tick this off the list. Of course now I want matching pants, gloves, boots... does it ever end?!!! Lol.

Hey does anyone know where I can get the pants? I have Kevin's jacket and the correct hat on order.

Thanks! Weathering is such an art form. And so subjective. Less is more I find. I think I went a bit heavy, but it matches the pistol. I silvered all the natural dings and imperfections too which look cool.

Ha ha, true?! So did I. Lol!

Thanks, the weathering is just with a silver permanent marker. Nothing too fancy, but I find it works wonders. Has to be done AFTER the clear coat though as the clear seems to dull silver. I'm yet to find a clear coat that doesn't affect silver paint.

Re: Oblivion Airsoft Rifle Build (WIP - pic heavy)

Hey, anyone know where I can source any of these...

- Grey Sling (I can only find it in black, tan and green)
- Pants (don't have to be screen accurate, just enough to kinda match Kevin's tech 49 jacket)
- Holster (for the pistol)
- Boots

And I still need decals for the pistol... someone must have a spare set??

Any help would be much appreciated. :)

Re: Oblivion Airsoft Rifle and Pistol Build - COMPLETE (pic heavy)

As far as the holster goes, I want to say they custom made it(givin the way it hugs the pistol and the pistols unique shape)with a kydex sheet and styled it on a drop-leg holster.

its a cheap and effective way to make a holster for any sidearm really, and I could defiantly see the prop/costume departments going that route.

thats my two cents always.

Re: Oblivion Airsoft Rifle and Pistol Build - COMPLETE (pic heavy)

Missed the boat on that one mate! One hell of a build for sure...love it to bit:cool The weathering is perfect (don't you dare touching it;)).

Re: Oblivion Airsoft Rifle and Pistol Build - COMPLETE (pic heavy)

I think you nailed the weathering, personally.
