Thanks mate, really appreciate the kind words.

Yeah the collection is ever growing. Got a D9 kit to do and also have a shotgun on order to turn into a Book of Eli shot gun. Easy enough mod, should be fun tho. It'll be wood and metal. [emoji106][emoji4][emoji106]

Yeah the pulse was my holy grail (that and my Coyle BR blaster)...
All metal, lights, sounds, grenades, etc. I love it! Was my 40th present to myself. lol.

Very nice also, I think I recognise the [Noble?] sling and the [HCG?] wall mount :)
Would love more info on it if you don't mind, but so as to not off-topic this thread anymore [sorry bout that], I'll msg you if that's ok?

P.s. A Coyle BR is on my wish list. I've had "settled" for a Tomenosuke (for now) :)

Wow, amazing job on these!

Thanks!

Small update... Sling arrived. Not bad for $15...

Re: Oblivion Airsoft Rifle and Pistol Build - COMPLETE (pic heavy)

Your very welcome my friend.:thumbsup

Re: Oblivion Airsoft Rifle and Pistol Build - COMPLETE (pic heavy)

Ok, so mixed results with the pistol! The decals went on smoothly. Thanks again Sean for saving the day! But then I had to make the lines. Opted to mask and paint...

Seemed simple enough...

But this is when it all starts going wrong! The model paint I used must have reacted to the enamel and went all crap. So I wiped it off...

This led me to have to repaint the grips, which wasn't such a bad thing as I wasn't happy with the original paint colour (the light grey) or the finish. When I removed the white I'd painted it left a nice groove in the original paint...

Of course I'd use that groove to my favor as plan B was to use white vinyl which I cut into a thin strip and applied...

Unfortunately when I repainted the new grey (same light grey I used on the rifle), I ended up with a fuzzy line. But too much of a drama trying to sort that so I left it.

All painted with decals and stripes applied it's time to clear coat. Again, I had problems with the clear making the mat black go milky. No idea why this is happening. Yes, I shook the can really well! Lol. It happened at the tip and also around the trigger...

Again, decided not to stress too much over it. It actually kinda looks like some kind of weathering around the barrel. Like smoke residue from gun fire. That's what I'm going with anyway!!! Lol.

And finally back on the wall...

Mat Black spray paint has always been my friend. Used it on sooo many props. But after spending half the day yesterday painting the underside of my classic Toyota I'm not such a fan anymore. After emptying 8 cans of the stuff lying under the car I ended up with more paint on me than on the blimmin car! Lol.

Probably should've worn a shirt. Or at least a hat! (You can't tell but I'm actually blonde haired!) But it's summer here in New Zealand and I live at the beach. Shirts are practically illegal! :lol

You look like a toasted Wolverine.

Hahah my thoughts exactly.

The pistol looks great though, and I for one dig that light fading around the barrel. Almost like a heat burn or something

Re: Oblivion Airsoft Rifle and Pistol Build - COMPLETE (pic heavy)

Looks like we both had a tough time with this pistol. yours turned out fantastic tho...:thumbsup

Thanks mate. Yeah, I tend to be a bit of a perfectionist which works against me often as I'll try to get something perfect and end up thinking - I should've just blimmin left it alone! Ha ha. I'm learning to know when to just walk away. Of course these props all look amazing a couple feet away, it's only when you get up close that you see the imperfections. Which are of course part of the character of the props themselves! As we all know, screen used props are always full of imperfections. In fact we often strain ourselves trying to recreate those very imperfections on our own replicas. The irony!!!

All in all I am happy with how both the pistol and the rifle turned out. Certainly not perfect, but again they play the part nicely and I'm blessed to have them in my collection. Besides, by posting the build process with all the issues I faced and resulting imperfections, it gives others the opportunity to learn from my mistakes so they can do it better. Kinda how I feel about life really. By being "real" with people and admitting I'm not perfect, exposing my flaws and imperfections, I give them the opportunity to learn from my mistakes and live a life that much better. That's the goal anyway.

Whoa, got real deep there for a mo... back to the workshop... Lol.

When showing a prop/model to people, never point the "flaws" that you, the Artist, sees in it. They will not see those "flaws", believe me (unless, the person is also a model/prop maker). Love the gun!

Ha ha yeah it's so true. I have a mint classic car, show room standard. I see the scratches, the imperfections, etc, all anyone else sees is a mint classic car! Lol
